Debora Alexander Claims Big Prize In ‘$100,000 Mega Crossword’ Scratch Game

CLIVE, Iowa – A Davenport woman won a big lottery prize earlier this month playing her favorite scratch game.

Debora Alexander claimed the 19th of 33 prizes of $10,000 available in the Iowa Lottery’s “$100,000 Mega Crossword” scratch game.

Alexander, 54, said she bought her winning ticket June 10 at Expresslane, 321 N. Division St. in Davenport, but she said the reality of her win didn’t start to set in until this week, when she claimed her prize from the lottery.

“I didn’t believe it. I checked it many times since I won it,” Alexander told lottery employees Monday as she claimed her prize at the lottery’s regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Alexander said she regularly plays Mega Crossword scratch tickets so she knew right away that she had won.

“I was checking it at home and then I was like, ‘Oh my gosh!’” she said.

Alexander said she plans to use her lottery winnings to buy a second vehicle and a new refrigerator.

The $100,000 Mega Crossword is a $10 ticket. More details about how to play these games, and number of prizes still up for grabs in them can be found on the Iowa Lottery’s website, www.ialottery.com.
