HAMPTON, Ill. (June 29, 2017) – Musical duo Kickin’ Back kicks off the 4th of July weekend with a free, live show at Illiniwek Forest Preserve campground pavilion on Saturday, July 1, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The public is invited to come out, celebrate the 4th of July and enjoy music in the park with family and friends.
Kickin’ Back plays a variety of classic pop, trop rock and country tunes from the ‘60s to the present including “Toes” by Zac Brown Band, “Margaritaville” by Jimmy Buffet, “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” by Alan Jackson, “On the Road Again” by Willy Nelson “Living for the Night” by George Strait.
Band members Ed James on guitar and Darrell Doose, steel guitar, both have musical backgrounds. James grew up playing a mix of blues, folk, rock and ballads, and has played in blues, country, western, swing, and rockabilly bands. Doose began his musical career with a gospel recording group in California, and has played with local bands including the Truesdells and the Dani Lynn Howe Band. Doose has opened for acts such as Martina McBride, Lone Star, Merle Haggard and Montgomery Gentry.
“This is the second live music event hosted at Illiniwek Forest Preserve this summer,” says Mike Peterson, Illiniwek park superintendent. “Come out, enjoy the beautiful park along the banks of the Mississippi and be part of a community of people enjoying summertime fun and making memories.”
