The first Come Together Quad Cities Food Drive fundraising event supporting the River Bend Foodbank and local QC families in need is set for 2:30-6 pm, Nov. 4, at the River Music Experience, Davenport.
The event includes live music and a silent auction featuring hand painted guitars and ukuleles from local artists. One guitar includes a tribute to local musicians Ellis Kell, Nate Nicholson, and Bob Enlow.
Admission is $7 per person or $6 if you bring a non-perishable food item to donate. Kids 12 and under are admitted free with a non-perishable food item.
Local musician Don Gustofson, who is hosting the event has experience bringing people together through his music, so with his partner Colleen Doak, they decided to bring the community together to raise awareness about hunger in our area.
“I had thoughts about wanting to do more to bring people together and grow a sense of community. Working to raise awareness to fight hunger seemed like a natural place to start, Gustofson said.”
River Bend Foodbank distributes millions of meals to 300 partner agencies that serve individuals and families who are food-insecure in eastern Iowa and western Illinois. All donations for the event stay in our area.
QC musicians Erin Moore, Joshua Stanley, Moonshine Run, Phyllis and The Sharks, The Mercury Brothers, and Soul Storm are scheduled to perform.
The silent auction will feature 20 hand painted ukuleles and guitars from local artists Bill Douglas, Erika Anderson, Emmalyn Mueller, Regan Hatfield and more.
