SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (October 29, 2019) — “Despite proponents' claims of cost-savings, the reality is that, as proposed, this 600-page legislation will inflict billions of dollars in increased energy costs on to Illinois rate-payers,” said Illinois Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Todd Maisch. “In addition to higher bills for individual rate-payers, CEJA unfairly saddles employers with unprecedented soaring energy costs and other increased expenses from new energy-mandates. We should continue discussions to ensure rate-payers are not financially burdened by this legislation that will impede economic growth and threaten reliability in Illinois.”
