BETTENDORF, IOWA (May 15, 2023) — Winners of the 14th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta Competition, held at the Bettendorf Middle Park Lagoon, have been announced.

Thirty teams and 95 students from seven area high schools raced their cardboard boats at the Bettendorf Middle Park Lagoon on Friday, May 12th, in this annual event. Each team designed and built boats made primarily of cardboard. The teams and students presented their designs to judges, and then one to two students from each team paddled a roughly 600-yard course on the lagoon for the fastest completion time.

The competition is one of a series of three QC Tech Challenge events held by QCESC: the other two events are the Battle of the Bridges (held at the Putnam in 24-25 February), and the Trebuchet Egg Throw (held 21 April at Bettendorf High School).

At the end of the QC Tech Challenge, a traveling trophy will be provided to the top scoring high school, and an award and a $1,000 scholarship will be given to the top scoring student.

Congratulations to Pleasant Valley High School for winning the 2023 QC Tech Challenge!
