DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 15, 2026) — River Action is now accepting nominations for the 27th Annual Eddy Awards, honoring individuals and organizations whose work has made a lasting, positive impact on the Mississippi River and its riverfront communities. Nominations will be accepted through Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Each year, the Eddy Awards recognize outstanding efforts that reflect innovation, responsibility, and creativity along the Mississippi River and its tributaries. The awards celebrate those who “go against the current” to advance the environmental, cultural, and economic vitality of river communities.

Awards are presented in the following six categories:

  • Education — Innovative programs, curricula, or learning initiatives
  • Design — Renovation, new construction, and livability improvements
  • River Activity — Recreation and engagement on the river
  • Arts — Performance, written word, and fine arts inspired by the river
  • Stewardship — Environmental enhancement and conservation efforts
  • Revitalization — Commerce, business, and industry connected to the river

Individuals, organizations, corporations, schools, community groups, and government entities are all eligible for nomination.

Nomination forms are available online at www.riveraction.org/nominate. Nominations may also be submitted via e-mail to riveraction@riveraction.org and should include:

  • Award category;
  • Name of nominee;
  • Contact name and phone number; and
  • A brief explanation of why the nominee deserves an Eddy Award.

The 2025 Eddy Award recipients will be announced on April 30, during River Action’s 24th annual Fish and Fire Dinner, a celebration of leadership, impact, and innovation along the Mississippi River.
