COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (February 16, 2026) — Do you want to help animals and take an active role in conservation?

We are excited to announce Niabi Zoo’s new Volunteer Conservation Corps. There are many opportunities for adults (eighteen and up years) and teens (thirteen to seventeen years), but now we even have openings for adults with children between the ages of ten through twelve years to come volunteer together as a team!

Volunteers can participate in Conservation Education, Animal Care (adults only), Horticulture, and conservation activities. These include helping conduct surveys of endangered rusty-patched bumble bees and threatened monarch butterflies, removing invasive plants, and helping to restore our prairies areas within our forest preserve.

We will also be hosting Conservation Action Days for groups and individuals who want help on single days rather that volunteering long-term. Those interested and register their group or sign up as a special event volunteer.
