DAVENPORT, IOWA (September 24, 2026) — Safer Foundation’s Quad Cities team continues to expand its reach across Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois, connecting youth, adults, and families with education, workforce development, mentorship, employment services, resource connections, and individualized support designed to help people move toward greater stability.
The Quad Cities team currently works across Scott, Muscatine, Clinton, and Rock Island counties, with programming and services extending across six sites in two states.
For a small team, that growing footprint means much more than serving a larger number of people. It means learning the needs of each community, building relationships with local partners, and remaining accessible when someone is unsure where to begin.
Second-chance programming is at the heart of much of that work.
For Safer Foundation, a second chance can look different for every person. It may mean helping someone impacted by the justice system prepare for employment, reconnect with education, obtain identification, access transportation, secure appropriate clothing for work, or understand which community resources can help with the next barrier in front of them.
For a young person who has struggled in a traditional classroom, it may mean having access to a smaller learning environment, individualized instruction, HiSET preparation, testing support, mentorship, career readiness, and adults willing to continue showing up even when progress is not linear.
For someone returning to the workforce, it may mean assistance preparing for an interview, navigating an application, connecting with an employer, or simply having someone available to help work through the practical barriers that can make starting over more difficult.
The goal is not to define what a second chance should look like for someone. It is to help create access to the tools, guidance, and opportunities that allow each person to determine what comes next.
That work is also entering a period of transition.
As Safer Foundation’s current lease arrangement with Davenport Community School District comes to a close, the Scott County Youth Empowerment Program is preparing for its next chapter in a new space.
The program has provided youth with educational instruction, HiSET preparation and testing support, mentorship, career readiness, resource connections, and individualized assistance for those who may not have found success in a traditional classroom environment.
The transition comes at a time when Safer Foundation’s Quad Cities presence is continuing to grow beyond Davenport, creating stronger connections throughout the surrounding counties the team serves.
While locations may change, the commitment behind the work remains the same.
Safer Foundation’s Quad Cities team continues to focus on meeting people where they are, helping remove barriers where possible, connecting individuals with resources when needs extend beyond its own programming, and making sure people know there is somewhere they can turn with questions.
That work is also the reason behind the organization’s upcoming Trivia Night fundraiser.
The annual event brings together businesses, community partners, families, staff, and supporters for an evening of trivia, raffles, silent auction packages, and friendly competition.
Community response to this year’s event has already brought contributions ranging from theme parks, concerts, sporting events, hotel stays, golf outings, dining experiences, museums, family attractions, baked goods, jewelry, car care, gift cards, and other experiences from businesses throughout the region and beyond.
Funds raised through Trivia Night help Safer Foundation’s small Quad Cities team continue providing education, workforce development, mentorship, employment services, second-chance programming, resource connections, transportation assistance, and other practical support that helps individuals continue moving forward.
For the team, the fundraiser represents more than one evening.
It is an opportunity for the community to stand behind work that happens every day, often one person, one barrier, and one next step at a time.
