DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 6, 2026) — Precious Acres Animal Rescue and Sanctuary has reached a major milestone in the development of its future animal rescue and sanctuary with the completion of a significant fencing project at its Scott County property funded largely by the Scott County Regional Authority.

The new fencing provides an important layer of security for the property and represents another tangible step toward transforming the site into a safe, permanent home for animals in need.

Precious Acres is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and lifelong humane care of animals. The organization is developing its rural Scott County property to eventually provide facilities and outdoor space for dogs, cats and other animals requiring temporary or permanent care.

“Every project we complete brings Precious Acres one step closer to becoming the kind of place we envisioned when we started this organization,” said Dr Kay Fix, Board President of Precious Acres and Medical Director at Precious Paws Veterinary Hospital.

“The fence may be one piece of a much larger project, but it is a very visible sign that this sanctuary is becoming a reality.”

Construction Continues

The fencing project is one of several improvements planned for the property.

Future phases include development of an Animal Care Facility, rehabilitation of existing structures and additional improvements necessary to support animal care, rescue operations and the long-term mission of the organization.

Precious Acres is not yet open to the public or accepting animals as construction and development of the property continue.

The organization is actively seeking support from individuals and businesses interested in helping complete the next phases of the project.

Opportunities to support Precious Acres include:

• Monetary donations

• Corporate sponsorships

• Donated construction materials and supplies

• Donated professional or skilled services

• Volunteer assistance

• Participation in Precious Acres fundraising events

Corporate sponsors may also receive recognition through the Precious Acres website, social media, event promotions, and, where appropriate, signage or naming opportunities associated with future facilities and projects.

Community Fundraiser October 10

The community will have an opportunity to support the construction effort at the upcoming Precious Acres Trivia Night on Saturday, October 10 at Davenport American Legion Post 26, 702 W 35th St, Davenport.

Doors open at 6PM, with trivia beginning at 7PM.

Tables seat eight people and are available for $140 per table, with a limited number of tables still available.

Proceeds will support the continued development and construction of Precious Acres Animal Rescue and Sanctuary.

“We want people to see where their support is going,” Fix said.

“Projects like this fence are possible because people believe there is a need for this kind of organization in our community. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, and community involvement is going to be critical to completing it.”

Precious Acres encourages residents, businesses, contractors, suppliers, and other community organizations interested in supporting the project to get involved.
