Monster Jam comes to the iWirless Center May 16 & 17 - Tickets on sale now!

The Party in the Pits, two hours before doors open for the show, gives fans the opportunity to get a view of the trucks up close and meet the drivers of the massive Monster Jam trucks. Tickets are just $5 for kids and $10 for adults with a show ticket!

Nova Singers Presents: A Nova Christmas

Nova Singers, under the direction of Dr. Laura Lane, presents two performances of A Nova Christmas on Friday, December 19, 7:30pm at St. Paul Lutheran in Davenport, and on Saturday, December 20, 7:30pm at First Lutheran Church in Galesburg.

Celebrate the holiday season with Nova Singers and join the many families who have made this their annual tradition!  We'll sing standard old favorites such as Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and The Holly and the Ivy, new versions of some of your favorite Christmas carols like Lo, How a Rose and O Come, O Come Emmanuel, an African carol with drums, and Kevin Memley's incomparable O Magnum Mysterium. Join us for a beautiful night of laughter, hope, peace and joy.

 

Dr. Lane talks about the program: "What people love most about the Nova Christmas program is still the same:  beautiful new arrangements of familiar carols, hauntingly sweet melodies in a variety of tempos and styles.  What I'm really excited about, though, is what's new this year:  Betelehemu, an African carol with drumming, clapping and movement, and a Pentatonics arrangement of Carol of the Bells with vocal percussion! Plus, people have loved our vocal jazz renditions for years, and this year we have jazz arrangements of In dulci jubilo, I Wonder as I Wander, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Deck the Hall.  But now, with the Pentatonics tune, we're expanding into the world of a cappella!"

For our Galesburg concert, students from the Galesburg High School Chamber Singers will join Nova Singers. For the Davenport concert, the Sudlow Select Choir will be guests of the Nova Singers.

Nova Singers, a professional vocal ensemble under the direction of Dr. Laura Lane, hopes to share our musical soul with you.  Nova Singers is known for the beauty, charm, sincerity and emotional power the singers impart to their music.

Tickets will be available at the door. Admission is $18 for adults and $15 for seniors. QCWE announces Holiday Concert featuring the Big River Brass Band

The Quad City Wind Ensemble (QCWE) and season sponsors Edward Jones and Modern Woodmen announce a free holiday concert featuring the Big River Brass Band (BRBB).  The concert will be Sunday, December 14 at 3:00 p.m. in the Galvin Fine Arts Center, 517 W. Locust St., on the campus of St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA.  The event is free and open to the public.  This is the 3rd year the BRBB has been featured during the holiday QCWE concert.

The QCWE was founded in 1987 by Dr. Charles B. DCamp of St. Ambrose University, and has become one of the finest adult bands in the nation. The BRBB was co-founded by Ed Butterfield, retired band director for Rock Island High School and Jerry Miller, John Deere retiree.  Miller saw a picture of the Deere Cornet Band in a book about Deere's history and decided to revive a brass band using Deere employees in order to carry on the Deere tradition.  Ed Butterfield later retired as director and was succeeded by current conductor Brian Burke. Since 2006, regular concerts have been played in Aledo, Geneseo, Rock Island, Moline, Bettendorf, and at the Festival of Trees in Davenport. The German American Heritage Center invites you to the annual Holiday Concert of the Davenport Zither Ensemble. This year the group is featuring two outstanding zither guest artists from Wisconsin, Kurt von Eckroth and Jeff Palenik. Watch for Jeff and Anne Prinz from the ensemble appearing on the Friday, Dec. 5 edition of the Paula Sands Show, KWQC Channel 6!

The concert is Sunday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2363 W. 3rd St, Davenport.

Note the change of venue!

Admission is free, but a $5.00 donation is suggested. There will be wonderful zither music and a chance to sing your favorite German Christmas songs. Special thanks to the St Mark congregation for hosting this seasonal event.

Come and see Mike Bayles read from his most recent book of poetry, The Rabbit House, at Rozz Tox, 2108 Third Avenue, Rock Island, on Wednesday, December 10th at 8 P.M. The Rabbit House is a collection of poetry about the nuances of small town living, written mostly when he spent time in Geneseo and in LeClaire. He will also read from his first book of poetry, Threshold. Threshold won Book of the Year Award, 2013, from Rockford Writers' Guild. His poetry is published in numerous literary magazines and anthologies. WVIK, Augustana Public Radio, has featured his writing. Local poets, Joe Chambers and Jason Cant, will also read their works.

Bio

Mike Bayles, a lifelong Midwest resident, writes about human connections with nature, rural settings, and with each other. He is the author of two books of poetry: The Rabbit House, and Threshold. Threshold won Book of the Year Award, 2013, from Rockford Writers' Guild. He is also a widely-published short story writer.

Jazz Ensemble presents A Swingin' Christmas at the University of Dubuque

Dubuque, Iowa (November 25, 2014) - The University of Dubuque Jazz Ensemble will present A Swingin' Christmas on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in Heritage Center's John and Alice Butler Hall. The concert, presented by the University's Department of Fine and Performing Arts, will be performed by student jazz musicians under the direction of Nicholas Bratcher.

Cancels Remaining Tour Dates including January 19 iWireless Center Date

Doctors Advise Additional Rest to Ensure Full Recovery

November 20, 2014.  New York City...For immediate release

With enormous regret, Cher has announced the cancellation of all remaining dates on her Dressed To Kill (D2K) concert tour.

Beginning in March, the multi-award-winning superstar completed 49 sold out concerts to unanimous rave reviews before taking a scheduled break in July.

Shortly before returning to the road in September, she was felled by an infection that affected her kidney function.

While her progress has been consistent, Cher's doctors have advised her to take more time to ensure a complete and total recovery.

Commented Cher: "I am totally devastated. Nothing like this has ever happened to me.  I cannot apologize enough to all the fans who bought tickets.  I'm so proud of this show. It is my best ever. I sincerely hope that we can come back again next year and finish what we started."
