DOJ IG report took five years to complete inquiry

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley released the following statement after receiving a letter asking for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to return to the committee for a hearing to supplement the testimony he provided to the committee on Jan. 11. There are no plans to ask Sessions to come before the committee before an annual oversight hearing, as is customary.

SPRINGFIELD - Governor Bruce Rauner announced today his support for a bill that would help ease the burden of the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) and taxpayers by taking into account an inmate’s ability to pay for a private attorney.

WASHINGTON – The Senate Judiciary Committee last week approved Senator Chuck Grassley’s bipartisan legislation to step up penalties against perpetrators of crimes against vulnerable senior citizens. The Elder Abuse Prevention and Prosecution Act of 2017 cleared the committee by voice vote with no opposition.
