Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Resource Helps New and Experienced Maple Syrup Makers Prepare for the Season

AMES, IOWA (October 15, 2026) — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has released a publication designed to help beginning and experienced producers prepare for the syrup season ahead. The four-page guide, “Maple Syrup Production,” is available for download from the ISU Extension Store.

Sessions Will Offer Hands-On Learning on Feedlot, Pasture, Farm Management, and Cattle Herd Health

AMES, IOWA (October 15, 2026) — The Iowa Beef Center at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host a Boots in the Barn workshop series in southwest Iowa on November 17 and 24 and December 1 and 8. All sessions will be at the Lakin Community Center, 61321 315th Street, Malvern. A meal starts at 5:30PM, and the program runs 5:30-8PM.

Abby Boysen Hired as Regional Director for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach

AMES, IOWA (September 24, 2026) — Abby Boysen has accepted the position of regional director with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach serving Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott counties. She begins the position October 1. As regional director, she will provide administrative leadership to county extension office staff and guidance to county extension councils.

Boysen has been serving as the regional director for Benton, Cedar, and Jones counties since 2024.

Proper timing not only improves flavor and texture, but also encourages many crops to keep producing.
