Learn how Davenport produces mulch & compost, diverting 130,000 cubic yards of organic materials from the landfill! The tour will meet at the Davenport Compost Facility at 2707 Railroad Ave.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 26, 2019) — Davenport Public Library will host Travel Talk on Tuesday, March 19 at 2PM at Fairmount (3000 N. Fairmount St), a free movie event, sponsored by Travel Talk, the Library's year-long exploration of all things travel-related. The Library will show "Enchanted April", a movie about four ladies escaping dreary England to rent a house in sunny Italy. Funny and charming, this beautiful movie is sure to lift winter-weary spirits.

Join us at Eastern (6000 Eastern Ave.) Monday, February 25, at 6PM, and we will go over everything from where your trash goes when it’s picked up off the curb to the basics of recycling. An activity on composting will follow.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 15, 2019) — Feeling the stress of homework, after school activities, and keeping life balanced? Join us Saturday, February 23 at 2:00PM at Eastern (6000 Eastern Ave) to learn how meditation and mindfulness can help everyone in the family to reduce stress and anxiety, promote a sense of well-being, develop empathy, and even help children focus on academics! Meditation basics will be presented, as well as tips for developing a family mindfulness practice at home.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 15, 2019) — Donate clean and gently used formal dresses & gowns to the Davenport Public Library to help support our Dress Giveaway program in March! All styles and sizes needed. Make a difference in a local teen's life and drop your donated gowns at the Library any time during our two drop-off days. On the day of the exchange, local area high school students can browse the donations and take home one garment each.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 15, 2019) — Join Kevin Braafladt, Army Sustainment Command Deputy Historian, at the Rock Island Arsenal when he discusses the American Strategic Bombing Campaign (USAAF) & Raid on Berlin, which aimed to destroy infrastructure and civilian moral. The discussion will take place at Eastern (6000 Eastern Avenue) on Wednesday, March 13, beginning at 6:00PM.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 5, 2019) The Davenport Library closed today at 5PM due to inclement weather. The Library will reopen tomorrow at 11AM at Main and Fairmount. Eastern will be open the normal hours.
