The bill provides a roadmap to citizenship for nearly 2 million people, including current Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and those eligible to apply for DACA.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 11, 2019) — Wednesday morning at the state capitol, a broad coalition including workers, elected officials, business, faith, law-enforcement, civil-rights, and community-groups gathered to tell Congress: “Time to do the right thing.”

House Resolution 18, introduced recently at the Iowa Statehouse, urges Congress to take steps to update the country’s immigration laws by supporting the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 (HR6).

In order to address reports and fear of escalating persecution of immigrant families across the country, a group of volunteers known as La Resistencia created a hotline for reporting activity of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This statewide hotline, a tool for Iowa immigrant families and allies to use to respond to needs created by ICE persecution, was created in February of 2017.
