ABATE backs Jacobs

MOLINE- A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois (A Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education) endorsed Senator Mike Jacobs in the 36th Senate District.

ABATE of Illinois is dedicated to preserving the rights of all motorcyclists - and ATV riders. Jacobs received an A plus rating based on his legislative record of voting on important ABATE issues.

"ABATE stands for freedom and less government intrusion in our lives- values Mike Jacobs shares," said Neal Toepfer, ABATE PAC Treasurer. "Mike has always been a friend of ABATE and we are glad to throw our support behind his reelection campaign."

ABATE sponsors numerous rider education programs and is a leading advocate for motorcycle education and safety, but they strongly believe that safety is the result of educated riders and drivers, not government mandates that impinge on personal freedom.

" I'm thankful for ABATE's support this November. Their endorsement makes a real difference on the campaign trail," said Mike Jacobs. "I have been fortunate enough to have ABATE's support in the past and look forward to continuing to work together."

The organization represents over 12,000 motorcycle riders across the state in 60 chapters, committed to preserving individual rights. ABATE is one of the more effective political and legislative grassroots advocacy groups in the state, having consistently prevented the legislature from imposing government restrictions on the rights of riders.

Illinois Teachers support Mike Jacobs

SPRINGFIELD - Illinois teachers are backing Senator Mike Jacobs campaign for State Senator of the 36th District.

The Illinois Education Association announced their endorsement of Jacobs this November.

"Mike Jacobs has proved his dedication to the teachers and students of the 36th Senate District," said Stewart Adams, retired Rock Island/Milan School Teacher. "One of the most important responsibilities we have in our community is providing a quality education to our children."

Jacobs has been committed to supporting education funding and ensuring teachers have the necessary resources to help educate the students in our community by fighting for more funding and working on reforming the way we fund schools in Illinois.

His opponent, Neil Anderson however, supports turning Illinois' pension system into a 401(k) plan.  Other states such as Alaska and Nebraska have adopted defined contribution plans only to later realize 401(k)' aren't cost effective and leave workers without a stable future.

"Anderson's support of 401(k) plans is proof of his inexperience and lack knowledge of Illinois' pension systems," said Adams. "We have seen the consequences in other states who move to a defined-contribution system. Our members can't afford to rely on insecure plans for their future."

Illinois Education Association (IEA): The IEA is an association of more than 130,000 members composed of Illinois elementary and secondary teachers, higher education faculty and staff, educational support professionals, retired educators and college students preparing to become teachers. The IEA was founded in 1853 to serve the interest of public education in Illinois. The IEA became an affiliate of the National Education Association in 1857, an organization currently totaling 3.2 million teachers and school employees working to make our good public schools even better for all students.

Jesse White backs Mike Jacobs

ROCK ISLAND- Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White stopped by Rock Island to endorse Mike Jacobs' (D-Moline) campaign for State Senate of the 36th Senate District.

"Our state is better served when more people participate in our democracy. Mike Jacobs continues to be an advocate for every resident of his district- regardless of their race or socioeconomic background," said White.  "Mike has worked hard to protect everyone's right to vote and I know with Mike in the Senate, we will have an ally who will continue to work in our best interests."

White has continued to be a champion of promoting transparency in government.  Over the years, he has passed a series of reforms to ensure government is working for the citizens of Illinois.

To make voting more accessible to the residents of Illinois, White has spearheaded a number of initiatives to make voting safer and easier this election.

"I urge everyone to take the time to vote- either early vote or on Election Day. I believe that if you don't vote, you lose your right to complain about anything in society," said White. "The streets that you walk on, the food that you buy, the schools that your children attend, someone in our government has had something to say about all those issues. "
