Ron Paul Iowa Team Names New 'Veterans For Ron Paul' Coalition Members
Hawkeye State heroes hail from Hamilton, Henry, and Pottawattamie Counties
ANKENY, Iowa - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today new members of its "Veterans for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition.

Ron Paul, himself a veteran, believes national defense is the single most important responsibility the Constitution entrusts to the federal government.  His national defense policy of keeping America strong, secure, and respected has garnered the support of veterans in Iowa and nationally.

The new "Veterans for Ron Paul" coalition members hail from Hamilton, Henry, and Pottawattamie Counties.

Iraq War veteran Ryan Cook of Mount Pleasant proudly served in the United States Army for more than four years.

Drawn to Congressman Paul's foreign policy positions Mr. Cook said, "Ron Paul understands that nation-building abroad is devastating in both human and financial costs.  We have lost over 4,000 American fathers, brothers, and sons after a decade overseas.  We have spent billions of American taxpayer dollars.  American families and taxpayers can no longer afford it.  Ron Paul understands that."

Another supporter, retired Army Captain Gary Bruns, served more than six years in the military following the end of the Vietnam War.

"As an Air Force Veteran, Ron Paul took an oath to defend our nation against all enemies, foreign and domestic.  Dr. Paul's record is clear - for decades he has supported a strong national defense.  I know he will represent me and veterans across the nation when he becomes president," said Bruns, who resides in Council Bluffs.

Finally there is Ray Frye, a U.S. Army veteran living in Williams.

"Ron Paul has a pro-American foreign policy and believes in the values our nation was built upon.  He also understands that we need to end the kind of nation-building that increases our debt and sacrifices American lives," said Mr. Frye.

Ron Paul Iowa Team Names New 'Small Businesses for Ron Paul' Coalition Members
Inspired by Paul's economic message, members hail from Muscatine, Des Moines, and Clinton counties
ANKENY, Iowa - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today new members of its "Small Businesses for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition.

Dr. Paul's platform, which includes a return to restoring sound money, responsible spending, lower taxes, and free markets, has excited small business owners across Iowa and nationally.

The new "Small Businesses for Ron Paul" members hail from Muscatine, Des Moines and Clinton Counties.

The first of these is Wayne Zumwalt, who for more than 30 years has owned and operated Zumwalt Tile.

"Dr. Paul has been a true champion of individual liberty who understands the Constitution's role in preserving our freedoms.  He'll get Washington out of the way and allow the economy to grow again.  Small business needs a friend in the White House, and I trust the man who sticks to his principles, and that man is Ron Paul," said Mr. Zumwalt of Muscatine.

Another supporter is Eric Riendinger, who owns and operates Attention Signs in Des Moines.

"Dr. Paul acknowledges that our country is faced with a serious debt crisis.  He is also willing to take the bold steps necessary to turn things around.  As a small business owner, I'm confident that Dr. Paul's economic plan will restore American prosperity," Mr. Riendinger stated.

Finally there is Rodney Gibbons, owner of the furniture store Slumberland, which employs eight people.

"Ron Paul's life work as a doctor and a congressman shows exactly who he is. Dr. Paul has always defended the rights of the unborn and argues that we should treat people around the world the way we would want to be treated. In Congress, he stood against those threatening our individual freedoms and liberty, everyday fighting to shrink the size of the federal government," said Mr. Gibbons.

"I could write a book on the reasons why I support Dr. Paul," concluded Gibbons of Burlington.

Ron Paul Wins Cedar Valley Tea Party Presidential Straw Poll
Paul wins local contest within Black Hawk County
ANKENY, Iowa - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul won another local tea party presidential straw poll in Iowa tonight, outshining his competitors in a display of growing organizational strength around the state.

Paul easily won first place, garnering 37 out of the total 60 votes cast in the inaugural Cedar Valley Tea Party presidential straw poll.  Placing second and third place, respectively, were Rick Santorum with 9 votes and Newt Gingrich with 5 votes.

Voting took place in-person only at 7:00 p.m., with results announced at around 8:00 p.m. at the PIPAC Center, 1521 Technology Parkway, Cedar Falls, where the organization meets the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

All candidates currently competing for the Republican nomination were listed on the ballot.  Greg Radke, Black Hawk County co-chair and Waterloo city coordinator for the Ron Paul 2012 campaign, spoke as Dr. Paul's surrogate.  Gingrich was the only other candidate represented by a surrogate.

The Cedar Valley Tea Party was formed in early 2009 with a mission to "convey meaningful conservative change at the local, state, and national levels by educating, motivating and informing the citizens of Iowa about relevant social and political issues affecting them today and in the future," according to the organization's website.

"We're pleased to have the support of many Iowans who identify with the tea party, as Ron Paul's message of constitutionally-limited government resonates quite well among this core group of citizen activists.  The results of this contest and others like it contribute to our goal of a strong top-three finish," said Ron Paul 2012 Iowa Chairman Drew Ivers.

This local win follows Ron Paul's endorsement by two Buena Vista-area tea party co-founders, his endorsement by two Dubuque-area tea party founders, and his winning first place in the Dubuque Tea Party presidential straw poll.

Full results of the Cedar Valley Tea Party presidential straw poll are as follows:

Paul 37
Santorum 9
Gingrich 5
Bachmann 3
Huntsman 3
Romney 2

Ron Paul Iowa Team Names New 'Doctors for Ron Paul' Coalition Members
Fellow medical professionals hail from Johnson, Story and Page counties
ANKENY, Iowa - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today new members of its "Doctors for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition, this time highlighting medical professionals from the first-in-nation voting state of Iowa.

Doctors are excited about Dr. Paul's candidacy in large part due to his firm stance of repealing Obamacare, restoring health freedom, and curtailing government intervention in healthcare.  Seeking to restore the doctor-patient relationship as an alternative to the present patient-bureaucrat-doctor hindrance to healthcare delivery, Hawkeye State doctors have stepped forward with the following endorsements.

Dr. Christopher Peters is a nine-year Army Medical Corps veteran currently practicing as a thoracic surgeon in Iowa City and resides in Coralville with his wife and three sons.  He was a 2010 Libertarian Party candidate for the Iowa State Senate, and set a record for an Iowa Libertarian candidate, garnering over 25 percent of the popular vote.

Today Dr. Peters stated, "As a fellow physician and surgeon, I fully support Dr. Ron Paul in his bid to become the next President of the United States because he brings the same qualities to public service as one should expect from any physician.  Dr. Paul's primary interest is his patient, which in this case is our country, and this patient is in ill health and has been poorly cared for by our partisan politics, corporatism, and banking system.  Dr. Paul has taken the time to understand his patient's condition thoroughly, without being hindered by traditional left-right politics, and has prescribed solutions that are long overdue."

"Like any good physician, Dr. Paul has been consistent and reliable throughout his long years of public service, and I completely trust that he will put our country's needs before the interests of anything or anyone else," added Dr. Peters.

As a retired OB/GYN, Daniel Keller is both an MD and Ph.D.  He served in the Air Force as a flight surgeon for two years, and was a physiology instructor to medical students for seven years.  Dr. Keller emphasizes that during his career, he has never performed an abortion, been sued for malpractice, or had the mother die during or after a delivery.  He resides in Nevada with his wife, and has six children.

Among the cited reasons why medical professionals should support Ron Paul, Dr. Keller notes, "Dr. Paul has two brothers who are Christian ministers, and is himself a Christian.  He would never undertake a procedure that is dangerous and might result in harm to his patient.  Dr. Paul knows that the physician's first responsibility is to his patient - not the government which is terribly anxious to pay the bill."

Wrapping up today's endorsements is Dr. John Bowery, a Shenandoah family physician.  His statements follow:

"My small rural hospital must comply with more than 130,000 pages of rules and regulations that govern Medicare and Medicaid alone.  Every time I transfer a patient from our emergency room for care at a larger hospital, I risk federal prosecution, a $50,000 fine and jail time under the federal Emergency Medicine and Active Labor Act.  Of all the presidential candidates, only Doctor Paul has shown that he understands how this cancer of bureaucracy is destroying health care, endangering patients, and ruining good medical practice in America.  I am also convinced that only a President Paul would have the knowledge and courage to give us the cure."

As a first basic step, those interested in joining the "Doctors for Ron Paul" coalition should visit the official page here.  Those residing in Iowa should email Iowa Voter Outreach Director Meghann Walker at meghannw@ronpaul2012.com.

Ron Paul Narrowing the Gap with Newt in Latest Iowa Poll
As details of the former Speaker's record come to light, support for Paul expands and solidifies
ANKENY, Iowa - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul again polled a strong second place in Iowa, this time gaining ground on his competitor Newt Gingrich as details of the former Speaker's record come to light, according to a new PPP poll.

Paul garnered 21 percent, just behind Newt Gingrich who earned 22 percent.  In third and fourth place, respectively, Mitt Romney with 16 percent and Michele Bachmann with 11 percent were the only other candidates to attract double-digit support in this poll of likely Republican caucus goers.  Noteworthy is that Gingrich dropped 5 percentage points in the last week alongside a decline in his favorability numbers, attributed to voters' changing attitudes toward the former Speaker as details of his record come to light.

An impressive 77 percent of current Paul voters say they're definitely going to vote for him, compared to only 54 percent for Gingrich, and among voters who say their decision is final, 29 percent support Paul compared to 21 percent for Gingrich, and 18 percent for Romney.  Establishment ties are also a factor, contributing to a boost in support for Paul.  Among voters who are anti-establishment, Paul polls at 34 percent to 18 percent for Gingrich, followed by 12 and 10 percent for Rick Santorum and Romney, respectively.

"As the campaign process plays itself out, and voters learn more about Newt Gingrich, the more people who are tired of the status quo in Washington are looking for someone with the consistency of record to tackle the tough issues," said Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.  "Ron Paul has always fought for constitutional principles, limited government, and balanced budgets, he has the only plan that cuts $1 trillion dollars in spending year one and gets our country back on track. These are things that resonate with voters everywhere."

Public Policy Polling surveyed 555 likely Republican caucus voters from December 11th to the 13th and the poll has a +/-4.2 percent margin of error.

Ron Paul Closing in on First
In Case You Missed It:  'The Daily Iowan' Endorses Ron Paul for President
Endorsing Paul "the only logical conclusion"
ANKENY, Iowa - The University of Iowa's student newspaper, The Daily Iowan, today endorsed GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul.

Caucus for Ron Paul on Jan. 3

The Daily Iowan Editorial Board endorses Texas Rep. Ron Paul for the Iowa Republican presidential caucuses.

The reasons for endorsing Paul over the other Republican contenders are numerous and warranted. The differences between their beliefs on governing primarily motivate our decision.

Paul is a candidate who appeals to voters across the political spectrum. He has also been exceptionally consistent in his time in Congress. He doesn't play political games ? even with his opponents ? and remains truthful to his word. This alone is a redeeming quality in a candidate in today's political sphere.

Despite the mainstream media writing him off as being unable to win Iowa, he is now polling in second place and may even be the most popular candidate in Iowa, given the margin of error.
The full article can be viewed here.

This endorsement comes on the heels of two successful "Youth for Ron Paul" rallies held in Iowa last week.  One at Iowa State University attracted more than 1,350 supporters, and one at the University of Northern Iowa drew more than 700 supporters.

Ron Paul Closing in on First Place in New Iowa Poll; Holding strong position, support growing
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - A new American Research Group poll of likely Iowa caucus goers released today shows GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul tied for second place with 17 percent of the vote and within 5 points of Newt Gingrich, who garnered 22 percent of the vote. Of note, Congressman Paul wins 39 percent of the vote among independents, more than twice that of the nearest competitor.

"Our campaign is continuing to make strides in the key early-voting states, especially in Iowa," said Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton. "After witnessing packed rallies time and again in Iowa, it is no surprise that we are seeing these encouraging poll numbers."

This latest poll comes on the heels of a PPP poll, which showed Paul with 18 percent in Iowa. In addition, a recent NBC/ Marist poll had Paul at 17 percent in Iowa and also polling the best against Obama in an Iowa head-to-head matchup.

Ron Paul Endorsed by Sioux City Pastor Rev. Mark McGlohon

Rev. McGlohon calls Dr. Paul "a man of faith"
ANKENY, Iowa - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign announced today that Sioux City, Iowa pastor Reverend Mark McGlohon has publicly endorsed Dr. Paul.

"Ron Paul is the only candidate who understands the challenges we face as a nation.  We need a man like Dr. Paul to put an end to politics as usual and tell the truth even when it is unpopular," said Rev. McGlohon, a former businessman and now minister living in Sioux City.

Rev. Mark McGlohon began his ministry after almost 20 years in the private sector.  Ordained by The Calvary Baptist Church in 1998, he spent the next four years as a chaplain in Savannah, Georgia.  Rev. McGlohan arrived in Sioux City eight years ago to assume the role of senior pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.

"I believe Dr. Paul is the right person to be president.  He is a man of faith and it is his faith that will guide him in leading our country," added Rev. McGlohon.

Rev. McGlohon is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and is also a Spiritual Care and Bereavement Counselor for Care Initiatives Hospice.  In making his endorsement, the reverend mentioned he was not necessarily speaking on behalf of his congregation.

If ministering in Iowa, local pastors interested in discussing an endorsement are invited email the Iowa Director of Voter Outreach, Meghann Walker, at meghannw@ronpaul2012.com.

Crowd size, makeup show growth since prior visits
ANKENY, Iowa - In a sign of growing momentum and voter interest in 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul, 110 voters attended Dr. Paul's Marshalltown town hall meeting held at the Fisher Community Center.

The turnout is noteworthy as crowds were larger than in two prior visits to Marshalltown, the city that is also county seat to Marshall County, and because of the crowd's diversity.  In particular a larger share of the voters present today were undecided voters in addition to regular supporters, thus showing both in polls and photographs growth in Paul's base.

Ron Paul Easily Defeats Competitors in Drake University Presidential Straw Poll

More than 1,200 students participate in online contest held alongside ABC News / RPI debate
ANKENY, Iowa - Ron Paul defeated his fellow competitors for the Republican nomination in a secure online straw poll held for students of Drake University in Des Moines yesterday, demonstrating his campaign's organizational muscle and his popularity among younger voters.

With 429 votes, first place winner Ron Paul garnered 35 percent of the 1,223 total.  Second place winner Mitt Romney won 311 votes, or 25 percent, and third place winner Newt Gingrich won just 128 votes, or 10 percent.  No other candidate won a double-digit percentage share.

The straw poll victory was announced early in the morning today.  Voting occurred over 24 hours beginning December 10th, with Drake sending students a unique link to their university email address.  Links, then, could not be duplicated and could not be shared on social media for the purpose of voting more than once or padding the online survey.

Students were able, however, to engage in conventional electioneering by communicating the importance of voting, and that of voting their preference.  Thus, Ron Paul's victory at Drake demonstrates his official campaign's organizational muscle, as those getting out the vote were in fact members of the "Youth for Ron Paul" (YFP) core leadership team: Midwest Regional Director for YFP Ani DeGroot and Edward King, National Youth Director for the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign.

In addition, the atmosphere for a Ron Paul victory at Drake was almost assured.  Drake was the site of last night's ABC News / Republican Party of Iowa Debate, so Paul supporters were notably energized.  In addition, during Paul's same three-day visit that concluded with the debate, he held two YFP rallies.  More than 1,350 mostly-young supporters attended his Iowa State University rally and more than 700 students attended his University of Northern Iowa rally.  In late October, Ron Paul spoke in Iowa City to 1,200 members of the University of Iowa and general community.  ISU, UNI, and UI are YFP chapters, and so is Drake University, to name only a few Iowa YFP chapters in the Hawkeye State.

Youth for Ron Paul, an initiative of the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign, launched on Wednesday, September 7th and since its inception more than 18,000 people signed up to get involved, forming 355 chapters in 46 states.

Ron Paul Issues Statement on NRLB-Boeing Resolution
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul released a statement today saying that he was pleased with the National Labor Relations Board's decision to drop its lawsuit against Boeing for deciding to build a new plant in South Carolina.

Statement from Congressman Ron Paul:

"Hearing that the NLRB decided to stop pursuing its ongoing harassment of Boeing was welcomed news. I would like to think this is more than just a political move by the Obama administration with an election year looming, but experience tells me otherwise.

"I have long been an advocate for the rights of workers to work without interference by big government, often acting as facilitator for big labor. My unblemished voting record on the issue of right to work, according to the National Right To Work Committee, is a testament to that fact.

"The idea that government bureaucrats, acting to empower union officials, would try to stop a private company from building a new plant is an affront to the very principles of economic liberty this country was founded upon. These are principles I have pledged to uphold my entire career.

"As President I will work to repeal all federal laws that force workers and employers to submit to union officials and their enforcers in the federal bureaucracy."

Two Buena Vista Area Tea Party Co-Founders Endorse Ron Paul
Activists Ken Hach and Jim Treat prefer Paul
ANKENY, Iowa - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today that Congressman Paul was endorsed by two co-founders of the Buena Vista Tea Party Patriots.

"I support Ron Paul for President of the United States because his 'Plan to Restore America' includes specific goals to stop wasteful spending by $1 trillion the first year, balance the budget in three years, and return the country to Constitutional government.  His years of service in Washington have proven his integrity and strength of character in dealing with foreign policy as well as internal issues," said Ken Hach.

"Of the people I have talked with, their primary concerns are jobs and the economy.  Based on the points I mentioned earlier, both situations would improve greatly under a Ron Paul presidency," added Mr. Hach.

Mr. Hach, a retired school administrator, is also owner of Wind on Rails, Inc. and currently serves on the Buena Vista board of county supervisors.  He has been in the wind farming business for 33 years.

"Our country is on a precipice of disaster if we do not have a change of leadership in Washington.  My decision to join the Ron Paul 2012 Campaign was because Dr. Paul is a patriotic American with common sense.  Ron Paul believes in the sanctity of life, the family as the bedrock of society, a strong national defense, and to fight to win when at war.  He will return America to the precepts on which our forefathers birthed the greatest country that history has ever recorded and ensure it is governed in accordance with the Constitution," said Jim Treat.

Mr. Treat has been an active member of the Buena Vista County Republican Party for three decades, and proudly served in the U.S. Army.

The BV Tea Party Patriots formed in 2009 and is comprised of people who believe in the United States and its founding ideals as expressed in the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and the Emancipation Proclamation.  It is a community of people who also believe in the American dream: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  They believe that being an American is an honor, as well as a great responsibility.

The endorsement occurred on the day Ron Paul's son, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), argued on several cable news and radio shows that one of Ron Paul's competitors for the GOP nomination, Newt Gingrich, is unworthy of tea party support.  Senator Paul's Des Moines Register op-ed arguing the same point, published today, can be read here.

Call to fire marshal delays 'Youth for Ron Paul' event launch as crowd swells
ANKENY, Iowa - More than 700 mostly-young supporters greeted 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul at a rally held at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), just one night after a similar event at Iowa State University (ISU) netted more than 1,350 supporters.

Event organizers noted that the start of the event was delayed because the local fire marshal was contacted due to the quickly-gathering large crowd.

The event was held at UNI in the Commons - Slife Ballroom, located at 1224 West 23rd Street in Cedar Falls.  Like the ISU event, tonight's rally far exceeded the expectations of the "Youth for Ron Paul" organizers charged with planning and executing the events.

LAKE JACKSON, Texas - In their coverage of last night's "Youth for Ron Paul" (YFP) rally at Iowa State University in Ames, TIME Magazine and NPR offer more-than-soundbite analysis of how crucial a role the youth vote will play in the January 3, 2012 Iowa Caucus.

The "Youth for Ron Paul" rally attracted more than 1,350 mostly-young supporters of the 12-term Congressman from Texas, double the number expected.  Event organizers were required to open two extra rooms at the university venue, an interesting challenge to face considering tonight- just an hour and half drive from ISU - Ron Paul will hold a similar rally at the University of Northern Iowa, located in Cedar Falls.

Ron Paul's Army Eyes an Iowa Caucus Upset
By Alex Altman
TIME Magazine

Ames, Iowa

It's a cold Thursday night the week before finals, and a light dusting of snow is falling on the Iowa State campus. But inside the school's student union, more than 1,000 supporters have queued up to catch an early glimpse of Ron Paul. Nearly an hour before the Texas Congressman is scheduled to appear, the line loops around corners and snakes back, full of fans toting placards and wearing Ron Paul buttons and hoodies. Near the front are a quartet of Nebraskans, who carpooled three hours from Omaha to hear Paul speak. "He's the only one who understands our problems. For the rest of them, it's like a geography bee ? name the country, and they want to fight them," says Jason Nunn, 28.

"He's been fighting for my liberty since before I was born," says his friend Bryan Jacoby, 28. "I came here with the expressed intention to shake the hand of the future President of the United States."

The crowd shuffles into the cavernous auditorium a half-hour early, filling the seats, hugging the walls and spilling into an anteroom. After a long wait, Paul steps to the podium to address the throng. Paul's is a stump speech unique in contemporary politics, one that pinballs from the case for more liberty and fewer military entanglements to the wasteful war on drugs, from Frederic Bastiat's economic theories to the evils of the income tax and the nanny state...

Ron Paul's Young Fans Flock To Him In Iowa
By Brian Naylor
NPR

At first glance, it's not easy to figure why Ron Paul is so popular with young people. At 76, he's old enough to be their grandfathers, something he alluded to at a packed rally at Iowa State University in Ames Thursday night.

"I understand this is a busy week, some of you are involved with studyin' so this was a chance not to have to study for a couple hours right? But I have a lot of children, a lot of grandchildren but I'm always advising them study hard get your courses down," Paul told the crowd.

Several hundred young people, mostly students, packed the Great Hall of Iowa States Union building. Many wore flannel shirts and knit caps on a cold snowy night. They listened intently as Paul, standing behind a lectern touched on some of his more esoteric views, on Austrian economists and returning to the gold standard. But they responded with enthusiasm when he got to issues they could relate to, like the threat he says is posed by the Patriot Act.

"There's a serious attack on our personal liberties ? your rights, your privacy, passing bills out of a panic mode and passing things like the Patriot Act. it does not help your personal liberty. I'd like to get rid of the Patriot Act to tell you the truth."

In Case You Missed It: Rand Paul Calls Newt Gingrich Unworthy of Tea Party Support In the Des Moines Register, Ron Paul's tea party-backed son outlines the case against a Newt nod
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - "Gingrich is not from the Tea Party.  He is not even a conservative."  These words appear in today's influential Des Moines Register newspaper.  They're written by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), elected in 2010 largely with tea party backing.

A son of 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul, Sen. Paul cautions GOPers to be wary of the "tea party" and "conservative" labels that media and pundits are recklessly applying to the former House Speaker.

Rand Paul: Republicans would take a giant step backward by choosing Gingrich

As a U.S. senator elected from and by the tea party, I am often asked about the tea party, the conservative movement and the presidential race.

While conservatives and limited-government activists did, indeed, make great strides in 2010, those could easily be set back by nominating someone with a different set of ideas and values in 2012.

Let me start with something important. I have two goals for 2012:

I want to prevent the European debt crisis from consuming America next.

I want to elect a president who will defend the ideas of constitutional conservatism and limited government.

Unfortunately, while all Republican candidates would be an improvement over the present administration, two of the current frontrunners simply do not represent the tea party, the conservative movement, or the type of change our country desperately needs in 2012.

Let me begin with the most obvious reasons:

Both Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich supported the outrageous $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, bailouts ? "one of the most unpopular government programs in American history," even according to President Obama's own Treasury Department.

Both Romney and Gingrich have been outspoken and unapologetic supporters of the individual mandate. This is the heart and soul of ObamaCare.

1,350 Supporters Greet Ron Paul at ISU 'Youth for Ron Paul' Rally
Turnout far exceeds organizers' plans for 650 attendees maximum as more than double attend
ANKENY, Iowa - More than 1,350 mostly-young supporters greeted 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul at a "Youth for Ron Paul" (YFP) rally held at Iowa State University (ISU).  Turnout far exceeded event organizers' estimates considering a similar event will be held tomorrow night at the University of Northern Iowa, a mere one and a half hours drive away.  In addition, YFP organizers were given just a week to organize both Hawkeye State rallies.

"Expectations often run high yet I was still blown away by the energy in the room.  With less than a month until the caucuses, students will play a pivotal role in the outcome, and this will only help Ron Paul," said Edward King, National Youth Director for the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign.

"This many students would only show up for Ron Paul - no other Republican candidate," added Ani DeGroot, Midwest Regional Director for YFP.

The rally took place at ISU in the Memorial Union Great Hall, located at 2229 Lincoln Way in Ames.  It was expected to attract a maximum of 650 attendees, but campaign staff soon realized that the Great Hall was not enough.  In response, the team directed overflow into the Oak Room and South Ballroom.

The ISU event is the first of two YFP events the 12-term Congressman from Texas will hold during a far-reaching three-day visit to Iowa that concludes Saturday night with the ABC News / Republican Party of Iowa Debate.

Tomorrow's event, which is free and open to supporters of all ages, will be at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in the Commons - Slife Ballroom, located at 1224 West 23rd Street in Cedar Falls.  Doors will open to the public at 6:30 p.m.  To enter 30 minutes early and secure a spot near the front of the room, RSVP for the UNI event featuring Dr. Paul at http://ronpaulatuni.eventbrite.com/.

Ron Paul Iowa Team Salutes Newest 'Veterans for Ron Paul'
Heroes for Dr. Paul hail from Linn, Polk, and Van Buren counties, and span different service branches
ANKENY, Iowa - The Iowa component of the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign released today new statements of support from a sample of Iowans who recently joined its "Veterans for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition.

These are everyday veterans, yet active citizens in their community with honorable records of service.

Among the latest to join is U.S. Army and Iowa National Guard veteran Andrew Lyons.  Mr. Lyons spent four years active duty as a medic in the 82nd Airborne Division, completing two tours of duty in Iraq.  Following his time in Fallujah and Kurdistan, he continued his service in the Iowa National Guard for three years.

Mr. Lyons, a Cedar Rapids resident, proclaims his support with the following statement:

"I support Ron Paul for president because there is no other candidate who is fully committed to revamping our foreign policy.  I fully endorse his idea of bringing troops home from all foreign countries.  Ron Paul's idea that the current foreign policy of preemptive war undermines our national security compelled me to reevaluate my position on the issue.  After reflecting on my time in Iraq, I realize that our presence over there does indeed create more enemies for the United States, and is counterproductive to our national security interests."

Twenty-year Navy veteran Kelly Schoen, also of Cedar Rapids, attained the rank of Commander.  She was CO of a squadron of four jets in Norfolk, Virginia, and also went on a pair of six-month cruises on the USS Concord and USS Kalamazoo.  Her statement follows.

"Ron Paul has the integrity demanded of a truly great leader.  We need a leader we want to follow, person who is honest and courageous in the face of adversity, and a leader that serves not his self, but a higher purpose.  That purpose is our nation's health and that leader is Ron Paul."

Hailing from the Des Moines area, John Feller began his service in the Merchant Marines in 1945 and left in 1948.  He also served in the Navy from 1951-1954, taking part in intelligence operations, refueling ships, and as a Yeoman on a destroyer.  In total, he crossed the Atlantic 16 times as a Merchant Marine and while in the Navy was off the coast of Korea during the Korean conflict.  Due to exposure to asbestos in the Navy, he has contended with cancer as a consequence and has never fully been compensated for his suffering.

Mr. Feller was recently featuredin a Veteran's Day story in the Indianola Record Monitor, highlighting his dedication to his community through his local VFW, helping other veterans and assisting military families.

"I support Ron Paul because he is the only candidate who cares enough about the United States of America.  He has proven this by having served in the Armed Forces of the United States.  This indicates to me that he is really the only candidate who has walked the walk before he talked.  He is definitely the only candidate who has presented a workable solution to the ills that now face our country, and the fortitude and tenacity to implement these same solutions for the betterment of the nation," said Mr. Feller in a statement to the Ron Paul campaign.

Two-tour Iraq veteran of the U.S. Army, Abe Elam of Douds spent eleven years in the Army and 27 months of those years on the battlefield as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Also a veteran of the 2008 Ron Paul campaign, he enthusiastically backs Paul this election:

"I support Ron Paul for President because of his strong adherence to the Constitution.  I support his strict foreign policy, true fiscal conservatism, and authentic plan to balance the budget.  I have never felt so strongly about a presidential candidate in all my life.  I am a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom with two tours, spanning 27 months and I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that Dr. Paul cares deeply for America and its sons and daughters who fight for her.  I am caucusing for Ron Paul in my precinct and I am voting for him."

Ron Paul is one of only two candidates this election with an honorable record of military service.  A flight surgeon during the Cold War era, his commitment to veterans was recently showcased in the campaign's television ad "He Served," viewable here.  To view Dr. Paul's more recent national security-themed television ad title "Secure," click here.

In Case You Missed It:  Ron Paul Discusses Authentic Support for Israel, U.S. should be a friend and ally to Israel - not a "master" as current foreign policy promotes
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul recently discussed his position vis a vis the State of Israel and foreign policy in general.

In an interview published online, the 12-term Congressman from Texas describes how the United States as a true ally and friend would not limit Israel's right to defend herself.  Nor would the U.S., under a fairer aid and diplomatic framework, fund Israel's enemies and create greater Middle East instability.

Ron Paul Tells Newsmax: I Support Israel
By Doug Wead*

In an exclusive Newsmax interview, Congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul confirmed his support for Israel, but cautioned that while the United States should be a "friend" of the Jewish state, America should not be the "master" of Israel.

Paul also says the United States should not dictate Israel's borders or try to "buy her allegiance" with massive amounts of foreign aid. He argued that foreign aid has actually hurt - not helped - the Jewish state.

The interview was conducted by Newsmax contributor Doug Wead, a presidential historian and New York Times best-selling author.

Paul has recently come under fire from some Jewish groups in America. The Republican Jewish Coalition banned Paul from a debate on Jewish issues in Washington this week because of his "misguided and extreme views," according to the group's executive director, Matt Brooks.

Newsmax chatted with Paul to get his side of the issue as the Texas Republican is surging in some presidential polls.

A new Washington Post-ABC News survey in Iowa shows him threatening Mitt Romney as the second-leading candidate behind Newt Gingrich. Paul is now tied with Romney in the early caucus state with 18 percent of the vote, behind Gingrich's 33 percent.

Rep. Paul's interview with Newsmax follows:

Newsmax: What should our relationship be with Israel?

Ron Paul: We should be their friend and their trading partner. They are a democracy and we share many values with them. But we should not be their master. We should not dictate where their borders will be nor should we have veto power over their foreign policy.

This is not just about Israel, by the way, this is about how we should conduct ourselves with other countries around the world...

Ron Paul Iowa Team Touts New 'Small Businesses for Ron Paul' Coalition Members, Latest additions to key group operate in Bremer, Davis, Linn, and Polk counties
ANKENY, Iowa - Following recent news of growth in the candidate's homeschoolers coalition in the Hawkeye State, the Ron Paul Iowa team announced today additions to the "Small Businesses for Ron Paul" coalition.

Small businesses are critical to the economy as the top employers in the nation, so any credible candidate for the nation's highest office must have visible support among this segment.

It's reasonable to conclude that those with a finger on the pulse of the real economy and who have the potential to create real jobs will coalesce behind the presidential candidate with real solutions.  An oft-cited example of authentic solutions is Ron Paul's Plan to Restore America: an economic policy blueprint that cuts $1 trillion in year one of a Paul presidency, eliminates five federal departments, and proposes a balanced budget in year three.

The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign in Iowa is grateful for the support of the following Iowa small business owners who stand with Dr. Paul and offer the following statements.

Matthew Schneider employs 35 people at his video game and movie retailer, Digital Dog Pound, serving Waverly city residents for over 11 years.  He has thrown his support behind Dr. Paul because he believes, "We need an honest, principled leader in the White House.  We need the Republican Party to return to its conservative constitutional roots.  Dr. Paul is one of the few politicians who understand economics, and how to address our economic crisis.  Ron Paul is a true statesman and is America's last hope to restore America."

Business partners Cassandra Hansen and David Birchmier operate MPA Computers, a firm that employs seven people and serves hundreds of clients in the Bloomfield-Ottumwa area.  The couple has been in business three years, and together they explain, "Ron Paul is my president because he stands for liberty, follows the Constitution, and seeks to limit the government's power over my money and business decisions.  As a small business owner, I see the importance of fixing our debt crisis and reducing government spending.  I support him also because he is for limited government and for fixing the source of the problem, not doing more of the same thing that created the issues in the first place.  He predicted every major economic crisis and bubble before they happened.  Ron Paul is a man of principle, and unquestioned integrity."

Businesswoman Jennifer Elliott owns "A New You" in Coralville and "Inches-A-Weigh" in Cedar Rapids.  She's been operating for over six years now and has employed between six and 20 employees over the course of her business.  Ms. Elliott is confident a President Paul will eliminate the national debt and reign in the Federal Reserve, and shares her optimism.

"Our country needs to pay less in taxes and create more jobs so small business owners like me can succeed.  Ron Paul's voting record is consistent and constitutional.  These principles made our country great and they will make it great once again.  I support Dr. Paul most of all as a mother of two young children because I believe in his values and that he is the only candidate who will institute real change in our nation," said Ms. Elliott.

These statements conclude with comments from 18-year small business owner and employer of five, Jeremy Goemaat, President of LogicBox Inc. in West Des Moines.

"Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate who precisely predicted our world's financial predicament.  Examine his wise solutions that are backed by historical context and a solid moral foundation, and you will see why more and more people are waking up to the message of this true founding father of our time," said Mr. Goemaat.

The above business owners are universally enthusiastic in their desire to spread the word about the Ron Paul campaign, who they call the only candidate who will restore America now.  As a function of this announcement, they now serve on the "Small Businesses for Ron Paul" national advisory board.

As a first basic step, those wanting to join the "Small Businesses for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition should visit www.RonPaul2012.com/SmallBusiness.  In addition, those ready to join are asked to email Meghann Walker, Director of Iowa Voter Outreach, at meghannw@ronpaul2012.com.

Recently, Ron Paul attracted more than 3,000 Minnesota supporters at a campaign rally held in St. Cloud.

North Dakota

The North Dakota operation will hold its event at 6:00 p.m. CST at the Ron Paul North Dakota headquarters, located at 500 N. 3rd Street, Bismarck, ND 58501.  From 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. North Dakota staff will host a grand opening celebration and open house during which guests will be invited to sign up as volunteers.  At 7:00 p.m., campaign staff will make a brief presentation and distribute campaign materials such as signs, literature, buttons and the like.  Guests may then watch the televised Republican presidential debate while enjoying soft drinks, hors d'oeuvres, pizza, and cake.

"Ron Paul's recent rise in the polls firmly establishes him as a top GOP candidate and his campaign is now bringing a strong presence to the state of North Dakota.  I am tremendously excited to open our office to the public and share with them Dr. Paul's lifelong fight for liberty and his positive vision for restoring America.  Ron Paul is the only candidate who has expertise on the intricacies of our economic crisis and, over a 35-year track record, he has illustrated the moral character and wisdom sorely needed in the White House.  As President, Dr. Paul will cut $1 trillion in his first year, balance the budget by his third year, and courageously exhibit the leadership necessary to bring about commonsense, limited government," said North Dakota State Director Jared Hendrix.

To RSVP, please call Mr. Hendrix directly at 701-516-7593.

Ron Paul recently visited Fargo, North Dakota to address a free-market policy forum.

Washington State

The Washington operation will hold its event at 4:00 p.m. PST at the Ron Paul Washington headquarters located at 13600 NE 20th Street, Bellevue, WA 98005.  Washington State Rep. Cary Condotta (R-12) is slated to speak at 4:30 p.m. to endorse Ron Paul for the presidency.

Also that evening, Washington campaign staff will sign up supporters for volunteer and caucus training, distribute promotional materials, watch the GOP debate live, and involve volunteers in contacting voters.  Soft drinks and appetizers will be served initially, and pizza will be ordered during the debate time.

"Washington is a state Ron Paul can most assuredly win.  Dr. Paul's message strikes a chord with residents because they have watched not only the federal government, but also their local government, overspend for years as they now teeter on the edge of bankruptcy.  Furthermore, residents value their civil liberties and support peace alongside a strong national defense.  Many enthusiastic supporters have already stepped forward, but we're looking for many more to help us assure a victory 12 short weeks from now at the precinct caucuses on Saturday, March 3rd," said Washington State Executive Director Pedro Serra.

National, state, and local media wanting to cover these events should send an email to RSVP@ronpaul2012.com.

Support increased 8 percentage points since same survey was held in early October
ANKENY, Iowa - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul placed second in a poll of likely Republican caucus goers, garnering 18 percent or 8 percentage points higher than when PPP last conducted this poll.  The 12-term Congressman from Texas is between Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney, who have 27 and 16 percent, respectively.

Poll highlights include the fact that Paul with 28 percent leads Gingrich by 10 percentage points among the 20 percent of likely caucus goers who are either Democrats or independents.  Paul also gets 23 percent of those who are under 45 years of age compared to 21 percent for Gingrich, 16 percent for Rep. Michele Bachmann, and 15 percent for Romney.

Paul leads Gingrich 23 to 20 percent with voters who care most about a candidate's stances, and of the 29 percent of likely voters who have seen one of the candidates in person, Ron Paul outclasses Gingrich by 27 to 22 percent.  In addition 62 percent of Paul supporters are strongly committed to him but just 49 percent of Gingrich supporters respond that they will definitely vote for him.

"Ron Paul continues to demonstrate the kind of sustainable growth required to make a respectable showing in Iowa.  There's no point in climbing Mt. Everest one day, only to fall into the Grand Canyon just days or weeks later," said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

"We're also pleased that Ron Paul attracts independents and Democrats because while our focus is on winning Republican votes in key early states, the end goal is to unseat an incumbent president whose base is increasingly weak-kneed," said Mr. Benton.

PPP surveyed 572 likely Republican caucus goers via telephone from December 3rd to the 5th, and the poll's margin of error is +/- 4.1 percent.  For full poll results including tables, click here.
