"A rising tide of Republicans who share Ron Paul's philosophy of limited government are flooding into GOP party roles in Iowa." - Des Moines Register
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - Supporters of 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul were elected last night to state Republican Party positions helpful for his delegate-attainment strategy, and for ensuring that constitutionally-limited government has a voice in the state party.  At four district conventions held Saturday, party activists tied to Paul won seats in the state nomination committee that selects at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, and in the state central committee, writes the influential Des Moines Register.

Ron Paul backers sweep into GOP party roles in Iowa

A rising tide of Republicans who share Ron Paul's philosophy of limited government are flooding into GOP party roles in Iowa.

Like the anti-abortion movement and tea partiers that made in-roads into GOP politics here in recent years, Paul loyalists want to send a message to party leaders, the governor, the state legislature and the nation, they said Saturday.

Six of the new Iowa GOP state central committee members elected Saturday have publicly expressed support for Paul, a libertarian-leaning presidential candidate: Joel Kurtinitis, Kris Thiessen, Dave Cushman, Jeff Shipley, John Kabitzke and Marcus Fedler.  Two more have close ties.

"Ron Paul's display of strength is to encourage their followers to say, 'We have the numbers. Join us and we can accomplish even more,'" said Gopal Krishna, a popular longtime central committee member who has declined to reveal his caucus vote.  "Because once they're a force to be reckoned with, everybody starts to cater to them."

Holds largest margin of victory among GOP rivals
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul beats President Barack Obama in a head-to-head matchup in the key swing state of Iowa according to the latest Des Moines Register Iowa Poll.

Congressman Paul bests President Obama 49-42 percent, the largest margin of victory for any of the other GOP contenders. Obama would beat Newt Gingrich 51 percent to 37 percent, while Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney would beat Obama by four percent and two percent, respectively, both within the +/- 4 percent margin of error for the poll. In 2008 President Barack Obama beat Senator John McCain by nearly 10 percent in Iowa.

Notably, Paul wins 55 percent of the under-30 vote, a demographic that Obama won 66 percent of in Iowa in the 2008 general election.

"This is just more evidence of the fact that Ron Paul is the only candidate who can beat Barack Obama," said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton. "In order to win back the White House Republicans must nominate a candidate who can provide stark contrast with the failings of the current administration and Ron Paul is the only candidate advocating for something other than the dismal, status quo policies."

The poll surveyed 611 likely Iowa voters between February 12th and 15th.

Full poll results can be found here.

Paul makes history in first-in-nation voting state
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign is celebrating a great victory with its strong top-three finish at the Iowa Caucus.  Below please find comments from Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton:

"The Ron Paul campaign is celebrating a great victory tonight.

"There were three tickets out of Iowa, and Ron Paul earned one of them.

"One of the three tickets, the one belonging to Rick Santorum, is a dead-end due to Santorum's weak fundraising and lack of national campaign organization.

"This is now a two way race between establishment candidate Mitt Romney and the candidate for real change, Ron Paul.

"Ron Paul has a top notch national organization, tremendous fundraising prowess, and unequaled enthusiasm among his volunteers and supporters.

"Dr. Paul has taken the first step towards earning the delegates it will take to be the GOP nominee and is the only candidate not named Mitt Romney with the ability to do so.

"Ron Paul is now off to New Hampshire, South Carolina, Louisiana, Nevada, Maine, North Dakota, Washington, Colorado, and beyond.

"See you on the campaign trail."

In Case You Missed It:Rick Santorum's Nephew Endorses Ron Paul for President
"If you want another big-government politician who supports the status quo to run our country, you should vote for my uncle, Rick Santorum."
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul can count his competitor Rick Santorum's nephew as a key youth supporter, demonstrating how young people as well as other voters are conversant on the important issues of the day.

Santorum's 19-year-old nephew John Garver writes in the Daily Caller all about how his uncle's longstanding, misplaced insecurities cause him to doubt how economic and civil liberties will help America reach its potential - if those like Santorum just step aside and permit them to.

The trouble with my uncle, Rick Santorum
By John Garver, Student, University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown

If you want another big-government politician who supports the status quo to run our country, you should vote for my uncle, Rick Santorum. America is based on a strong belief in individual liberty. My uncle's interventionist policies, both domestic and foreign, stem from his irrational fear of freedom not working.

It is not the government's job to dictate to individuals how they must live. The Constitution was designed to protect individual liberty. My Uncle Rick cannot fathom a society in which people cooperate and work with each other freely. When Republicans were spending so much money under President Bush, my uncle was right there along with them as a senator. The reason we have so much debt is not only because of Democrats, but also because of big-spending Republicans like my Uncle Rick.

It is because of this inability of status quo politicians to recognize the importance of our individual liberties that I have been drawn to Ron Paul. Unlike my uncle, he does not believe that the American people are incapable of forming decisions. He believes that an individual is more powerful than any group (a notion our founding fathers also believed in).

Another important reason I support Ron Paul is his position on foreign policy. He is the only candidate willing to bring our troops home, not only from the Middle East, but from around the world.

Ron Paul seems to be the only candidate trying to win the election for a reason other than simply winning the election.

This year, I'll vote for an honest change in our government. I'll vote for real hope. I'll vote for a real leader. This year, I will vote for Ron Paul.

John Garver is a 19-year-old student at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. John is a strong supporter of Ron Paul despite his love for family member Rick Santorum.

Former CIA Agent in Charge of bin Laden Unit Endorses Ron Paul

Foreign policy and national security expert Michael Scheuer regards Paul as the presidential candidate best able to keep America strong and secure

LAKE JACKSON, Texas - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul was endorsed by the CIA's former lead agent in charge of tracking Osama bin Laden.  The endorsement was made in a recent column Mr. Scheuer published on his website.

The former high-ranking intelligence officer Scheuer and the 12-term Congressman from Texas, both with decades of experience working on and witnessing the costly interventionist foreign policy of the past decades, agree that a foreign policy that puts America first keeps America safest.

The endorsement by Michael Scheuer is certain to cause a ripple effect of discussion throughout the political establishment, especially in foreign policy circles where policymakers promote endless U.S. military involvement and subsidization of global security as the solution to conflicts often having an unclear connection to U.S. national security.  An endlessly interventionist foreign policy like the one practiced by the Obama administration is certain to result in bankruptcy and increased hostility toward the U.S., a prediction Mr. Scheuer and Dr. Paul both make and endeavor to share with the American public.

"We're pleased to have the endorsement of Michael Scheuer, who is the world's leading expert on the notorious terrorist Osama bin Laden and who like Ron Paul understands the connection between U.S military adventurism and emerging threats against America," said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

"Michael Scheuer understands that only Dr. Paul will put our national security first and stop the foreign wars and nation building.  Our campaign is very proud to have his support," said Mr. Benton.

Mr. Scheuer is a former CIA intelligence officer, American blogger, historian, foreign policy critic, and political analyst.  He currently serves as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University's Center for Peace and Security Studies. Throughout his 22-year tenure with the CIA,he served as the Chief of the Bin Laden Issue Station (aka "Alec Station"), from 1996 to 1999, the Osama bin Laden tracking unit at the Counterterrorist Center.  He then worked again as Special Advisor to the Chief of the bin Laden unit from September 2001 to November 2004.

Ron Paul Iowa Team Welcomes New 'Gun Owners for Ron Paul'

Featured Second Amendment advocates hail from 11 Iowa counties

ANKENY, Iowa - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today additional Iowa gun owners joining the "Gun Owners for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition.  Today's additions reside in Scott, Polk, Webster, Wapello, Audubon, Fayette, Linn, Story, Butler, Delaware, and Keokuk counties, all Iowa.

The following gun owners and everyday Ron Paul caucus-goers offer the following public statements for consideration by the media and other gun owners:

Starting with Scott County, Brian Sydnes of Eldridge stated, "History has shown when the people fear the government, they live in tyranny, but when the government fears the people, they have liberty.  Congressman Ron Paul understands the Constitution, the Second Amendment, and history.  That is the reason why I support him, and join ranks with the 'Gun Owners for Ron Paul.'"

"As a responsible gun owner, I value Ron Paul's stances on personal liberty.  With Ron Paul in the White House, there would be no need to worry about the slew of bills continually aimed at inhibiting the rights of American gun owners," added Robert Weiss of Davenport.

Avid hunter Doug Havill of LeClare explained his caucus choice saying, "Ron Paul's understanding of the Constitution is amazing.  He understands that the Second Amendment should not be infringed upon and that safety is a matter of personal responsibility."

Concealed-carry permit holder Scott Carlson, a Davenport resident, stated, "I support Ron Paul for president because he knows the Second Amendment means exactly what it says, and that the 'people' referred to in it are the same 'people' referred to in the First, Fourth, Ninth, Tenth, and Seventeenth Amendments."

Polk County resident John Hoover of Des Moines expressed his backing of Paul saying, "I support Ron Paul because he has his principles and sticks to them no matter what.  His support of the Constitution is foremost in his platform, and I know he would not change that after taking the oath to uphold and defend it."

"I support Ron Paul because of a long track record of fiscal responsibility, standing for freedom, small government, and the Constitution," Adam Weltha, also of Des Moines, said as he excitedly signed onto "Gun Owners for Ron Paul" over the weekend.

Continuing with Webster County residents, Emily Martin of Fort Dodge declared her support for Ron Paul, "...because he is a true statesman and will follow the Constitution.  I trust him to end the illegal wars and corruption.  He will bring about a much needed revolution of ideas in America."

Dean Pringle, hailing from Moorland, explains his vote succinctly: "Ron Paul is ever so stout on upholding the interpretation of the Constitution the founders intended, and will uphold our rights and not change them based on whomever disagrees with the written declarations.  I urge others to consider Ron Paul, a man who will stand by his words and convictions."

Wapello County and Ottumwa resident Phillip Burgmeier shared his ideas: "I'm supporting Ron Paul because he is the only chance the next generation has to have a better life than their parents.  Ron Paul's actions speak for him, he is a good person."

"He's the best man for the job, to get the country out of the position it is in, to end nation-building and restore America's place in the world," added concealed carry permit holder Johnnie Walker of Brayton in Audubon County.

Fayette County gun owner Bill Roys of Wadena said of Ron Paul, "Of all the candidates, he's been the most outspoken supporter of the Second Amendment, both in what he says in his speeches and how he votes in the Congress."

Writing from Linn County, Adam Rompot of Cedar Rapids praised Dr. Paul's record, "Ron Paul has been totally consistent all the way around, including gun rights and everything else.  That's why I'm voting for him."

Marsha Crouthamel of Ames in Story County emphasized the importance of self-responsibility, stating, "Living in a rural area I take comfort in owning a gun.  It's the first line of protection when the sheriff is at least 30 minutes away."

Harold Anderson, a Shell Rock resident in Butler County, reflected on his support for Dr. Paul: "Having been able to carry a gun since I was a teenager, I appreciate the fact that as an American I still have the ability.  Ron Paul has always defended those rights, and that's why I'm voting for him."

Proud gun owners Jason Guyer of Manchester (Delaware County), and Jonathan Oliver of Martinsburg (Keokuk County), also were among those sending messages of support in the moments prior to the release of these statements, an illustration of the momentum for Ron Paul among this critical segment of voters.

As a first basic step, those interested in joining the ranks of the "Gun Owners for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition should visit the official page by clicking here.  If residing in the Hawkeye State, gun owners may inquire with Meghann Walker, Director of Iowa Voter Outreach for the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign, at meghannw@ronpaul2012.com.

Dubuque-area Christian Pastor Endorses Ron Paul for President
Rev. Mike Demory calls Paul, "The type of man our country needs in the White House, which is why I am throwing my support behind him."
ANKENY, Iowa - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul received today the endorsement of  the Rev. Mike Demory, Pastor of Heartland Church of Christ in Dubuque.

In making his endorsement Rev. Demory mentioned he was doing so as a private citizen and not on behalf of Heartland Church of Christ, or its congregants.

"As a Texas patriot who helped elect Dr. Paul to Congress, I have kept up with his career over the years and am proud to see him grow to the constitutional conservative we see today.  I have waited almost 30 years for the American people to wake up to what our politicians and special interests have done to our great nation, and I now can thank President Barack Obama for a 'change' in the American people's thinking.  Dr. Paul is the type of man our country needs in the White House, which is why I am throwing my support behind him," said Rev. Demory.

Ron Paul 2012 Iowa Chairman Drew Ivers responded positively to the announcement saying, "The Iowa team is pleased to accept Rev. Demory's endorsement, and delighted to hear that there is a connection with Iowa and Texas.  Rev. Demory's endorsement and others like it will bring us closer to a strong top-three finish in tomorrow's caucus."

Ron Paul Campaign Airs Final New Hampshire TV Ad 'Believe'
Ad features prominent Republican surrogates such as State Sens. Andy Sanborn and Ray White
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today that it will begin airing its final television ad 'Believe' in the key early voting state of New Hampshire.

The 60-second ad will run beginning today on broadcast and cable television statewide in New Hampshire, and on broadcast television in the greater Boston market.  The ad features prominent Granite State surrogates such as political activists and leaders including state Sens. Andy Sanborn (R-Henniker) and Ray White (R-Bedford), both of whom have endorsed Ron Paul for the presidency.

A key feature of the ad is New Hampshire politicians and luminaries condemning the outsize growth of the federal government - calling is "overtaxing" and "overspending" - alongside declarations that the upcoming election is about trust.  The ad then presents Ron Paul as an honest and consistent candidate, and the sole alternative to flip-floppers responsible for the costly mistakes of the past.  The ad also showcases, in the words of its subjects, the strengths of Ron Paul's 'Plan to Restore America.'

"Ron Paul is surging in New Hampshire and is in it to win it.  We have a first-class organization and tremendous support from a state where his message of personal and economic liberty resonates well.  This ad will serve as the closing argument for why Ron Paul is the only authentic conservative in this race, and the only one capable of  bringing authentic change to Washington," said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

Ron Paul Iowa Team Touts New 'Homeschoolers for Ron Paul'
Latest families valuing education freedom reside in Dallas, Des Moines, Polk and Lee counties
ANKENY, Iowa - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today new members of its active 'Homeschoolers for Ron Paul' nationwide coalition.  New members hail from Dallas, Des Moines, Polk, and Lee counties, all Iowa.

Below are the statements of new coalition members who agree with Dr. Paul's position that no nation can remain free when the state has greater influence over the knowledge and values transmitted to children than the family does.
.
As President, Dr. Paul has pledged to veto any legislation that would encroach on homeschooling parents' rights to educate their children.

James and DeAnn Cline educate their three children from their Polk County home.  They stated they support the 12-term Congressman from Texas because he is the only candidate who knows and actually understands the Constitution.  Further, they wrote, "Ron Paul is a man of integrity who has a proven record of not being swayed from his allegiance to the U.S. Constitution.  He is the only man of principle who is ready, willing and able to make the hard decisions that are necessary to turn our country away from its current path of destruction.  We believe Ron Paul to be the candidate who will restore lost liberties and defend our remaining liberties through faithful adherence to the U.S. Constitution."

Lee County residents John and Angela Helwig have homeschooled their children for 17 years.  They stated that they would support Dr. Paul even if they were not homeschooling, because they feel he is the only candidate looking out for the future of America.  "We are happy that Ron Paul is fully behind the right to homeschool.  That is not the primary reason we support him though," said John. "We agree with his stance on monetary issues as well as foreign policy."

Stacy Bastian is a homeschool parent from Dallas County.  Stacy explained that Dr. Paul earned her support because, "He has a consistency of message and a thoughtful analysis of our nation's problems and what can be done to fix them."  Stacy continued, "He says what he means and he means what he says, a trait generally lacking in politicians.  He champions personal liberty and personal responsibility, trusting that individuals and families, not government, are best positioned to manage a range of matters including the education of their children."

Stacy also stated, "I respect and agree with his call for more fiscally responsible government and one that engages its time and treasure here, rather than on endless wars and 'nation building' abroad."

A past member of the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) and homeschooling parent, R.W. Ballard of Des Moines County said, "The reason I support Ron Paul for President is his consistent message of individual freedoms as outlined in the Constitution.  His highlighting of our money issues since the Federal Reserve was introduced in 1913 and eventual federal tax law overload is also one of the most enlightened stands we have today.  His stand against our constant involvement in wars not associated with our borders is also a key message."

"And let us not forget his stand for the unborn and young children as our Godly heritage to grow in the fullness of our Constitution and freedoms given not by men but by God," added Mr. Ballard.

Victoria Holmbeck, who is a new homeschooling parent from Des Moines County, weighed in on why she supports Dr. Paul saying, "I am excited to have a nominee to vote for who is Christian and will seek to be led by His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in every decision he makes."  She continued, "Ron Paul's integrity and value to truly care for the American people and not his career or fame is why I am voting for him."

Victoria further stated, "Our nation needs to be restored to its Constitution which will entail specific benefits for myself as a homeschooler: to put the rights of educating one's child back in the hands of the parent instead of the government, and having a balanced budget so our children can grow up in a nation without being in debt."

As a first basic step, those interested in joining the "Homeschoolers for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition should visit the official page here.  Those residing in Iowa should email Iowa Voter Outreach Director Meghann Walker at meghannw@ronpaul2012.com.

In Case You Missed It: Ron Paul Economic Plan Most Ambitious, Specific among those of His Competitors
"Paul's spending proposals would amount to the largest reduction in the size and scope of the federal government of any candidate." - Expert
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - A story in the Daily Caller online publication recently highlighted a Cato Institute study singling out Ron Paul's 'Plan to Restore America' as the most ambitious and serious spending-reduction and government-curtailing one of all his competitors.

Study: On spending cuts, most GOP candidates light on details
By Alex Pappas--The Daily Caller

All Republicans running for president say they want to cut federal spending.

But a study the libertarian Cato Institute conducted by analyzing the candidates' websites showed that most of them are light on details about specific cuts they would insist on as president.

The study's author, Tad DeHaven, wrote in his "Guide to the Presidential Candidates' Proposals to Cut Spending" that Texas Rep. Ron Paul stands out the most.

"When it comes to proposing specific spending cuts and identifying the dollars amounts, Paul's website is unrivaled," DeHaven explained.

"He is the only candidate to put together an actual budget proposal," he said. "Paul's spending proposals would amount to the largest reduction in the size and scope of the federal government of any candidate."

Paul calls for getting rid of the Commerce, Education, Energy, Housing and Urban Development and Interior departments, while also making major cuts to the military. He also believes younger American citizens should be permitted to opt-out of Medicare and Social Security...

Ron Paul Iowa Team Names New 'Homeschoolers for Ron Paul' Members
Member families valuing education freedom hail from Linn, Kossuth and Dallas counties
ANKENY, Iowa - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today additional families joining the "Homeschoolers for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition.  Today's featured members reside in Linn, Kossuth, and Dallas counties, all Iowa.

The first additions are Marion residents Matt and Sarah Banowetz, who have been homeschooling their four children for five years.

"As a homeschooling mother, I support Ron Paul for President because of his 'hands-off' views that allow freedom for parents to school their children as they see fit with minimal government regulations.  I also support his proposal of a $5,000-per-child tax credit to be used for schooling - books, computers, etc.," said Mrs. Banowetz.

"Homeschooling can be difficult and I want to know that my government has my back when it comes to providing an excellent education for my children.  I believe that Ron Paul sees the value of homeschooling - and having a President who sees the value of this hard-fought educational option would be an asset to our country," added Mrs. Banowetz.

Laurie and Thomas Hammer of Algona are parents of two and have taught at home for six years.  They expressed their reasons for supporting Dr. Paul, stating, "Our family values our privilege to homeschool and we want to protect that God-given right and many other rights for generations to come.  There is only one candidate who will fight for real liberty and freedom and that is Dr. Ron Paul.  Our country needs someone who not only has read the Constitution, but will abide by and fight for what our founding fathers intended."

The Ron Paul team asked Kevin Waycaster, a 14-year homeschool father of Waukee why he decided to support Dr. Paul this election, and he responded succinctly:

"A true leader is someone who is willing to take a nation and its people to where they should be.  Ron Paul is that leader.  As health care has become a major issue, who is better qualified to deal with the matter, a doctor or a bureaucrat?"

As a first basic step, those interested in joining the growing ranks of the "Homeschoolers for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition should visit the official page by clicking here.  If residing in the Hawkeye State families may inquire with Meghann Walker, Director of Iowa Voter Outreach for the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign, at meghannw@ronpaul2012.com.

Ron Paul Council Bluffs Town Hall Meeting Attracts 750 People
Paul voter outreach event attracts hundreds?again
ANKENY, Iowa - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul was greeted by 750 people tonight at his Council Bluffs Town Hall Meeting held at the city's Mid-America Center.

Iowa campaign staff for the 12-term Congressman from Texas reported that the energetic audience comprised of supporters and undecided voters filled the venue to capacity, resulting in a standing-room-only crowd.  The theme of Paul's speech - "Restoring Our Personal and Economic Liberties" - was extraordinarily well received, according to Ron Paul 2012 Iowa Chairman Drew Ivers.

Last night at his own 'Salute to Veterans' rally in Des Moines, Paul attracted more than 550 veterans, their family members, and the general public.

In Case You Missed It:  Bachmann Key Aide's Statement on Sen. Kent Sorenson Defection
Bachmann Iowa political director Wes Enos fires back at Mrs. Bachmann's claim that Sen. Sorenson's desertion was financially-motivated
ANKENY, Iowa - U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann's Iowa political director Wes Enos recently made enlightening comments concerning Iowa State Sen. Kent Sorenson's defection to the Ron Paul camp from his position as Iowa Chairman for the Minnesota congresswoman's campaign for the presidency.

Hours ago, Sen. Sorenson resigned from his post with the Bachmann camp and publicly endorsed Ron Paul for the presidency, committing to get out the vote for the 12-term Congressman from Texas in the pivotal first-in-nation voting contest.

Mr. Enos made his comments in response to unfounded allegations that Sen. Sorenson's defection was made due to financial incentives made by the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign.  Mr. Enos's comments on the matter follow, and are presented in full:

"I won't say much about the situation or the conflicting statements beyond this; I can say unequivocally that Kent Sorenson's decision was, in no way financially motivated.  His decision had more to do with the fact that the Ron Paul supporters have been something of a family to him since he was first elected in 2008 and here in the end, as it becomes more and more apparent that the caucus cycle is coming to an end, Kent believed that he needed to be with them as they stand on the cusp of a potential caucus upset.  While I personally disagree with Kent's decision, and plan to stay with Michele Bachmann because I truly believe in her, I cannot, in good conscious watch a good man like Kent Sorenson be attacked as a 'sell-out' ....That is simply not the case, and it was not the basis of his decision," said Mr. Enos.
Sen. Kent Sorenson Statement on Bachmann Allegations
Calls Bachmann's untrue claim a "last-minute effort to salvage what's left of her campaign."
ANKENY, Iowa - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign released the following statement from Iowa State Sen. Kent Sorenson.

Last night Sen. Sorenson defected to the Ron Paul camp, endorsing the 12-term Congressman from Texas before a crowd of more than 600 Paul supporters and media.  Moments before his endorsement and in past months, Sen. Sorenson had served as Iowa Chairman for U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann's campaign for the presidency.

In the minutes that followed the endorsement, Rep. Bachmann made baseless claims suggesting the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign provided Sen. Sorenson with a financial incentive to join the Paul camp - and, that this was a deciding factor in the senator's decision to endorse Paul.

Below please find comments from Iowa State Sen. Kent Sorenson:

"I have to say, I've been saddened by the way Congresswoman Bachmann's campaign has decided to handle my decision to endorse Ron Paul for President of the United States.

"Like many folks here in Iowa and throughout the country, I simply came to the realization that Ron Paul is the candidate for true pro-life, pro-gun, pro-limited government conservatives.

"The recent smears from the media and the national political establishment motivated me to rush to Congressman Paul's aid because he did the same for me in both of my races for the Iowa General Assembly.

"As for the ridiculous allegations that Congresswoman Bachmann and her surrogates have made, I was never offered money from the Ron Paul campaign or anyone associated with them and certainly would never accept any.

"Financial reports come out in just days which will prove what I'm saying is true.

"Even Congresswoman Bachmann's political director issued a statement defending my character.  Since then, he's been fired by the Bachmann campaign for daring to tell the truth.

"Sadly, the values I most appreciated in Congresswoman Bachmann appear to have gone out the window in a last-minute effort to salvage what's left of her campaign.

"On the other hand, Congressman Ron Paul's track record of standing up for constitutional principles and traditional values is unmatched.

"He's proven he is the one candidate who can take on defeat both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama."

Below please find comments from Wes Enos, recently-terminated Iowa political director for the Bachmann Presidential campaign, referenced in Sen. Sorenson's above statement:

Enos.

Iowa State Sen. Kent Sorenson Endorses Ron Paul for President
Former Iowa chairman for U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann pivots to Paul camp citing, "Ron Paul has established himself as the clear choice."
ANKENY, Iowa - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul was endorsed today by Iowa State Senator Kent Sorenson (R-Indianola) in a major pivot that promises to give Paul extra momentum in the run-up to the January 3, 2012 Iowa Caucus.

In making his endorsement Sen. Sorenson is leaving his post as Iowa chairman for U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann's presidential campaign here.  The resignation and endorsement take effect immediately.

"Congressman Paul is delighted to accept the endorsement of Senator Kent Sorenson, whose blessing and assistance carry a great deal weight in Iowa.  The fact that he doesn't take this decision lightly tells a great deal about the Senator and Ron Paul.  This endorsement is a rare find and we hope it pushes us nearer to our goal of a strong top-three finish at the January caucus," said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

Kent Sorenson was elected to the Iowa Senate in 2011 and represents District 37 after serving in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2009 to 2011, representing District 74.  The senator is a member of several committees including the Judiciary, Natural Resources and Environment, and State Government committees.  He is also the ranking member of both the Senate and Joint Oversight Committees and a member of the Advisory Council for Agricultural Education, the Family Development and Self-Sufficiency Council, and the Human Rights Board.

Senator Sorenson has been leader in the fight in defense of traditional family values, the sanctity of life, and a restoration of Second Amendment rights.

The full endorsement statement from Senator Sorenson follows.

Sorenson Statement

The decision I am making today is one of the most difficult I have made in my life.  But given what's at stake for our country, I have decided I must take this action.

Today, I am switching my support from Michele Bachmann to Ron Paul for the 2012 Iowa Caucuses and the presidency of the United States.

I still maintain an immense amount of respect for Michele.  The reasons are many.  She's never betrayed conservatives on issues like taxes, the Right to Life, and the Second Amendment.  So over the past few months, I have been saddened at the dismissive way she's been treated among some conservatives especially after winning the Iowa Straw Poll.

But the fact is, there is a clear top tier in the race for the Republican nomination for President, both here in Iowa and nationally.  Ron Paul is easily the most conservative of this group.

The truth is, it was an excruciatingly difficult decision for me to decide between supporting Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul at the beginning of this campaign.  Dr. Paul and his supporters were a major help in my successful campaigns for Iowa House and Senate even when I couldn't count on the support of the Republican establishment here in Iowa.

Of course, battling the establishment is nothing new for Dr. Paul or for myself.  During my time in the General Assembly, I've established myself as a leader in the fights for traditional marriage, the Right to Life, and the protection of the Second Amendment - sometimes even against the wishes of my own party.

Since my election, I've learned that doing the right thing isn't always easy.  It's easy to see why so many legislators "sell out" once elected.  The pressure to do so is immense.

But what America needs now is a President who will not just "go along to get along."  Instead, we must send someone who puts doing what is right above all else to the White House.  That candidate is Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is the only candidate to predict the current mess we find ourselves in economically, and he's the only candidate to offer a true plan to cut spending and balance our budget.

He's also consistently spoken out against government spending, assaults on individual liberties, and unnecessary trillion-dollar military adventurism for over 30 years.  Polls show he is the Republican candidate that can take on and defeat President Obama in November 2012.

Like all true conservatives, I wholeheartedly agree with Ron Paul that government is too big, and both parties share in the blame.  We agree that it is immoral to print money and pass on mounds of debt to the next generation.  We agree that life begins at conception and must be protected.  We both believe that the Second Amendment must be defended unwaveringly, and that there are too many wars being fought with no end in sight and no obvious path to a defined victory.

Of course, as a state legislator, I recognize that Dr. Paul's strong views on the 10th Amendment will enable me to fight for what I believe in right in my own backyard instead of having to constantly wait on one-size-fits-all "solutions" from Washington, D.C.

With the entire Republican establishment intent on smearing Ron Paul and his dedicated supporters, I understand this decision could impact the way people see me and my entire political career.  But this is the right decision, and one in which I proudly stand behind.

To the truly wonderful people I met on the Bachmann campaign, I look forward to working with them in the future as we further the fights for the Right to Life, traditional marriage, and the restoration of our Second Amendment rights here in Iowa.   I personally wish her all the best as she continues to battle in Congress.

As for conservatives who are rightly concerned with defeating establishment Republicans Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and - even more importantly - Barack Obama in 2012, Ron Paul has established himself as the clear choice.

If you are as frustrated as I am with what's been done by the ruling class, I urge you to join me in supporting Dr. Paul.  We can send the national big government political establishment a message they will never forget by voting for Ron Paul for President in the January 3 Iowa Caucuses.

Ron Paul Iowa Team Salutes 20 New 'Veterans for Ron Paul'
Largest-yet coalition rollout represents 11 counties, coincides with Des Moines 'Salute to Veterans' rally
ANKENY, Iowa - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today the names of 20 Iowans joining the "Veterans for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition on the very night he is holding a major 'Salute to Veterans' rally in Des Moines.

This is the largest-yet rollout for this key coalition.  The additional members hail from Polk, Bremer, Clayton, Warren, Clarke, Story, Franklin, Scott, Marshall, Benton, and Tama counties, all Iowa.

Veterans are signing on in droves to the coalition, further demonstrating the dynamism of the Iowa campaign organization's outreach to Hawkeye State heroes.  Success in this area is attributed to Ron Paul's clear and consistent stance on behalf of veterans while in Congress, as featured in his own Des Moines Register op-ed published today and found here.  An ad released earlier in the campaign highlighting Dr. Paul's service to veterans in his home district can be viewed here.

In Case You Missed It:Ron Paul Talks Veterans Issues in Des Moines Register Op-Ed

Also tees up tonight's 'Salute to Veterans' rally

ANKENY, Iowa - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul authored an op-ed in today's print and online versions of the Des Moines Register.  Appearing in Iowa's largest circulation newspaper, the op-ed focuses on his record of service to veterans ahead of a rally he will hold tonight in Des Moines highlighting similar themes.

In the op-ed, the 12-term Congressman from Texas and former U.S. Air Force flight surgeon argues that he has been fighting for America's heroes while in Congress, and will be their strongest ally as President.

Backing veterans is a must
By U.S. Rep. Ron Paul

America cannot remain strong if our servicemen and women have reason to doubt that our nation will not honor the promises it made to them when they enlisted.

My campaign is holding a Salute Our Veterans Rally today in Des Moines. I hope this rally will help drive that point home.

Of all our government's shortcomings, few issues are more distressing than the inadequate treatment our veterans receive. I'm a veteran myself, having served as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force during the turbulent 1960s. So, unlike some of my "armchair general" opponents, I have a firsthand understanding of our veterans' needs.

I have supported numerous pieces of legislation in Congress to better look out for our veterans, and I am proud to have helped many veterans in my district finally receive the medals and benefits they fought hard to earn. I intend to use the bully pulpit as president to advocate even more strongly for their issues. Our veterans fought hard for us, so we should fight hard for them.

For instance, I have always supported giving employers tax credits for hiring veterans, narrowing the gap in pay that exists between private and military sector pay scales, and finally reversing the trend of disproportionately high veterans unemployment, which is a sky-high 27 percent for vets ages 18 to 24, according to a recent New York Times article...

Ron Paul Campaign Releases New TV Ad 'Machine'
Ad condemns harmful Washington atmosphere and presents Ron Paul as leader with a bold plan to solve our economic crisis
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign released today a new television ad titled 'Machine' airing on television in the key early voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire.  The ad begins airing today.

The 30-second ad condemns the dysfunctional Washington-insider atmosphere created and furthered by slick politicians, and presents Ron Paul as a leader who has stood apart and above such an environment.

'Machine' suggests that the self-serving actions of serial flip-flopping politicians brought about the current period of government-imposed economic weakness.  These politicians are ones that supported corporate bailouts and mandates on businesses, to the detriment of our overall economic health.  In glaring contrast, Ron Paul is showcased as a different kind of politician who has always been outside of the well-oiled machine that works for itself rather than for America's needs.  Included in the ad are details of the 12-term Congressman from Texas's 'Plan to Restore America,' which makes the hard choices and sets the nation on a path to recovery and lasting, sustainable prosperity.

"Our new ad 'Machine' argues the point that Washington is populated with politicians and well-connected interests that serve themselves rather than a vulnerable public that relies on politicians to create the proper atmosphere for fair competition and growth.  In contrast Ron Paul has always been above the fray and promotes policies and initiatives such as his 'Plan to Restore America,' an economic blueprint to help Americans recapture their constitutionally-guaranteed economic and civil liberties," said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

Ron Paul Endorsed by Eminent Pastor Rev. Phil Kayser, Ph.D.
Dr. Kayser says, "Ron Paul's strictly Constitutional civics is far closer to Biblical civics than any of the other candidate's on a whole range of issues."
ANKENY, Iowa - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul was endorsed today by renowned pastor, theologian, and prolific author Rev. Phillip G. Kayser, Ph.D.

Rev. Kayser is the Senior Pastor of Dominion Covenant Church based in Omaha, Nebraska.  The Church has a national footprint including in Iowa where Ron Paul, the 12-term Congressman from Texas, is competing in the January 3, 2012 caucus.

In making his endorsement, Dr. Kayser mentioned he was doing so as a private citizen and not on behalf of his congregation and the organizations with which he is affiliated.

"We welcome Rev. Kayser's endorsement and the enlightening statements he makes on how Ron Paul's approach to government is consistent with Christian beliefs.  We're thankful for the thoughtfulness with which he makes his endorsement and hope his endorsement and others like it make a strong top-three showing in the caucus more likely," said Ron Paul 2012 Iowa Chairman Drew Ivers.

Dr. Kayser has degrees in education, theology and philosophy/ethics.  He is the author of over 40 books and booklets.  The name of one organization that he founded describes well his ministry: Biblical Blueprints.  His passion is to see the comprehensive blueprints of the Scriptures applied to science, civil government, education, art, history, economics, business, and every area of life.

For 15 years Dr. Kayser has been involved in coaching church planters, mentoring seminary students, and teaching seminars on Biblical leadership internationally.  President and founder of the Providential History Festival, he is desirous of seeing a more Biblical philosophy of history being taught at every age level.  Phil is the pastor of Dominion Covenant Church, a very conservative, evangelical church that teaches the Bible, the whole Bible, and nothing but the Bible.  His parents were missionaries in Ethiopia for 30 years, with SIM, International, and he continues to have a passion for missions, making teaching trips to other countries and mentoring international leaders.  He has provided leadership to the Heartland Christian Ministries Conference, Evangelical Ministries Fellowship, CELNet, the National Strategy Council, and other evangelical organizations.  He is the professor of ethics at Whitefield Theological Seminary in Lakeland, Florida.

Phil Kayser is a frequent conference speaker on many subjects, and he has applied Scripture to politics in three presidential candidate campaigns.  He also has been an occasional guest teacher and consultant at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

If ministering in Iowa, local pastors interested in discussing an endorsement are invited to email the Iowa Director of Voter Outreach, Meghann Walker, at meghannw@ronpaul2012.com.

Dr. Kayser's full statement of endorsement follows.

Statement from the Rev. Phillip G. Kayser, Ph.D.

I support Ron Paul as the Republican candidate for president for a number of reasons.  The first reason is that he is the only candidate who holds to a strict constructionist interpretation of the Constitution (i.e., that the Feds can only do what is explicitly enumerated in the Constitution) whereas the other candidates hold to a broad constructionist interpretation (i.e., that the Feds may do whatever is not explicitly forbidden in the Constitution).  It is broad constructionism that has gotten us into the mess we are in today, and you cannot fight liberal broad constructionism with conservative broad constructionism.  Both lack integrity.

The second reason is that he is the only candidate that has a consistent philosophy of economics that will truly resolve America's problems.  The economics of each of the other candidates is flawed, and in my opinion grossly unbiblical.

The third reason is that Ron Paul's strictly Constitutional civics is far closer to Biblical civics than any of the other candidate's on a whole range of issues including non-interventionism in international politics, limitations on what can be a crime, limits of jurisdiction, the rights of interposition and civil resistance, inflation, banking cartels, the national identity card, the American Community Survey, the use of torture by the military, etc.

As a Biblical ethicist I am very concerned about overturning Roe v Wade (something that Ron has sought to do), but I am also extremely concerned about all the areas of lawlessness that have destroyed nations in the past.  What candidates take these things seriously?  I know of only one candidate who obeys God's clear-cut prohibitions against interventionism in politics: "do not meddle with them" (Deut. 2:5), "do not harass them or meddle with them" (Deut. 2:19), but instead "buy food from them" (Deut. 2:6) - in other words, engage in free trade.  Biblical issues like this should be as easy to understand as Ron Paul's positions are easy to understand.  He is by far the best candidate for the Presidency of the United States of America.  Even though I strongly disagree with him on some issues, he is the only candidate that I can endorse.

Ron Paul Iowa Team Names Additional "Homeschoolers for Ron Paul" Families
Member families hail from Story, Washington, Johnson and Clayton counties
ANKENY, Iowa - Expanding on recent growth in Iowa for the "Homeschoolers for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition, the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today additions to the pro-Paul families that value education choice.

Melinda Wadsley of Ames has chosen to homeschool her three children since day one - six years and counting.

"Ron Paul is the only candidate who is going to extend and protect my personal freedoms.  I believe in Ron Paul and trust that he knows what is best for this country," said Ms. Wadsley.

Wellman-area home educator and father of three Aaron Fleming has been homeschooling for seven years now, and offered why he as a homeschooling dad supports Ron Paul.

"Ron Paul has always been focused on civil liberties and bringing control of education closer to home instead of leaving education in the hands of Washington bureaucrats.  Whether you homeschool or not, I believe you can stand with Ron Paul's values of freedom, choice, and accountable education," said Mr. Fleming.

Dustin and Derricca Krutsinger of Coralville are proud parents of a five-year-old daughter and a 15-month-old son.  Using organized curriculum, they've been teaching their daughter for two years and explained their thoughts about Dr. Paul's candidacy.

"We support Dr. Ron Paul for many reasons but the main reason is education freedom.  While our children are very young, we have choices in educational pathways.  As they get older, our government places more and more restrictions on our options, and so we trust Ron Paul to limit government and expand freedom in our private lives, including the freedom to choose how to best educate our children," wrote the couple.

Chelsy Askren of Garnavillo, homeschooled by her parents, shared her thoughts on the 12-term Congressman from Texas's record.

"Ron Paul has long been a strong supporter of homeschooling.  That's why while in Congress, he has introduced legislation to make diplomas earned through home education equal and provide parents a tax credit to help offset costs," said Ms. Askren.

"When protecting life and healthcare choice, Ron Paul does not pick and choose when he will defend the Constitution - he defends it across the board, and as president there would be no greater friend to the homeschooling community or our Constitution than Dr. Paul," added Ms. Askren.

As a first basic step, those interested in joining the "Homeschoolers for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition should visit the official page by clicking here.  If residing in the Hawkeye State, they may send an email inquiry to Meghann Walker, Director of Iowa Voter Outreach for the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign, at meghannw@ronpaul2012.com.

Ron Paul to Hold Major Salute to Veterans Rally in Des Moines
Alongside Iowa Chair Drew Ivers and Rep. Glen Massie, Air Force veteran Ron Paul to assemble veterans, discuss their issues, and thank them
ANKENY, Iowa - Air Force veteran and 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul will hold a major veterans rally in Des Moines, demonstrating his commitment to veterans, active-duty military men and women, and their families.

The event, which is open to supporters of all ages regardless of veteran status, will be held on Wednesday, December 28th at the Knapp Learning Center, located on the State Fair Grounds in Des Moines.  Doors will open to the public at 6:30 p.m.  To enter 30 minutes early and secure a seat near the front of the room, RSVP for the veterans rally featuring Dr. Paul by clicking here.

The salute to veterans rally is of particular importance as U.S. troops are returning from Iraq, and are deserving of a warm welcome home.  Another function of this event is to answer the growing demand of the "Veterans for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition, which is among the strongest voter associations benefiting Dr. Paul in Iowa.

"My country called and like Ron Paul I left my family, friends, and career behind, in my case serving in Vietnam.  Now Dr. Paul is again offering himself to serve our great nation as president in a time of urgent need," said Ron Paul 2012 Iowa Chairman Drew Ivers.

"I've never met a more humble, honest, and capable patriot in my lifetime.  As Ron Paul salutes his fellow Veterans here in Iowa, I'm proud to return that salute," said Mr. Ivers, himself a combat-wounded U.S. Army veteran awarded a purple heart for injuries he sustained while serving in Vietnam.

"Like many other veterans and active-duty military men and women, officers and enlisted alike, I wholeheartedly support Ron Paul for our President and Commander in Chief," said Iowa House Rep. Glen Massie (R-Des Moines).

Rep. Massie is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and was the first Iowa legislator to endorse Dr. Paul for the Republican nomination.

During the 1960s, Dr. Ron Paul proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a flight surgeon.  Today, the 12-term Congressman from Texas has stood up in defense of veterans benefits and as a friend to veterans has helped returning veterans receive honors and awards never bestowed them

In recognition of Paul's own military service, his promotion of a strong national defense, and his service to veterans, active-duty military personnel contributed more to Paul's campaign than to those of all Republican presidential candidates combined, and more than that of incumbent President Barack Obama, in 2Q and 3Q of 2011.

As a first basic step, those wanting to join the "Veterans for Ron Paul" nationwide coalition should visit the official page by clicking here.  Those residing in the Hawkeye State should email Iowa Voter Outreach Director Meghann Walker at meghannw@ronpaul2012.com.

Due to strong demand and space limitations, members of the media are asked to RSVP for the event by sending an email to RSVP@ronpaul2012.com.

Details of the event, which is free of charge and open to the public, are as follows.  Time is Central.

Ron Paul Endorsed by Pella-area Christian Pastor

The Rev. Brian D. Nolder of Marion County says Dr. Paul's ideas "reflect biblical principles."

ANKENY, Iowa - 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul received today the endorsement of a Christian pastor from Pella, Marion County.

The Rev. Brian D. Nolder, pastor of Christ the Redeemer Church, wrote a thoughtful endorsement of the 12-term Congressman from Texas, discussing his evolution from a Paul observer to Paul supporter.  In the letter, he discusses the merits of Dr. Paul's domestic and foreign policy positions and how they comport with Christianity as the Rev. understands it.

"We are pleased to have Rev. Nolder's endorsement and thank him for the many compliments he pays Ron Paul in his letter of support.  Rev. Nolder's endorsement and others like it are what make a strong top-three showing in the Iowa caucus more likely," said Ron Paul 2012 Iowa Chairman Drew Ivers.

In making his endorsement, Rev. Nolder mentioned that he was doing so as a private citizen and not on behalf of Christ the Redeemer Church or its congregants.

Mike Heath, Iowa State Director for the Ron Paul 2012 campaign, is visiting Christian churches across Iowa to do outreach and discuss Ron Paul's candidacy.  To date, Heath has visited 295 houses of worship across the state toward that end.  Heath is an ordained Christian minister.

If ministering in Iowa, local pastors interested in discussing an endorsement are invited to email the Iowa Director of Voter Outreach, Meghann Walker, at meghannw@ronpaul2012.com.

The full text of Rev. Nolder's letter of support follows.

Statement from the Rev. Brian D. Nolder

I write this to indicate my support and endorsement for Ron Paul for President in 2012.  Even though I am a Christian pastor, my endorsement comes as a private citizen and does not indicate any endorsement by the church I serve.  But my endorsement is motivated by Christian convictions, and I could not support someone whom I did not believe embodied those convictions in his policies, positions and character.

The idea of supporting Dr. Paul is pretty new to me.  But the interest of many colleagues in my denomination (the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches; www.crechurches.org) in Dr. Paul, as well as the support of my former pastor, caused me to take a close look at the man and his ideas.  Though they seem radical and out of the mainstream at first, careful study will show that they actually reflect the conservatism of our nation's founding fathers, our founding documents, and the first decades of our history.  More importantly, they reflect biblical principles.

I support Dr. Paul because he wants people to be liberated from state dependence (perpetuated by a massive welfare state) and returned to dependence on God-through hard work, entrepreneurship, and enjoying the fruits of one's labor-and assistance from families, local communities, churches, and other private, charitable organizations.  He has the most concrete plan to shrink the Leviathan of federal government, and he has the track record to show that he will do what he says.  He wants to do exactly what the Constitution is designed to do, but which we have been moving away from for the past century: restrain the scope and size of government, particularly at the federal level.  As a patriotic American who loves his country, it pains me to say that I have the growing sense that Uncle Sam-executive, legislative, and judicial-is more of an existential threat than Iran or any other foreign power is.  Dr. Paul can help us reverse this trend.

As a Christian, I am also very concerned about the issue of human life, since each of us is uniquely made in the image of God.  Dr. Paul has always been pro-life, refusing to practice abortions throughout his long career as an OB-GYN.  He has written a book on the subject, and he signed the recently promulgated "personhood pledge" (www.personhoodusa.com), further indicating his support to use constitutional means to guarantee life and liberty to all people, even to the unborn.

Respect for life must not only extend to the unborn within our own land, but also to all people everywhere.  I am concerned that our country has moved further and further away from the "just war" principles of the Christian tradition that used to inform so much of our foreign policy.  While I am no pacifist, I am increasingly concerned about how quickly we seem to be resorting to violence to resolve international conflicts, and whether the "wars" we have recently been engaged in are truly just.  Dr. Paul promises to return us to the modest, humble foreign policy that Gov. Bush articulated in the 2000 campaign.  (This must be one of the reasons Dr. Paul receives more contributions from military servicemen and women than all other candidates combined.)

I don't necessarily agree with every position Dr. Paul has, nor every vote that he has cast in Congress.  But what voter ever has the "perfect" candidate?  More importantly, the positives of his stated positions, goals and aspirations-and esp. his overall governing philosophy-far outweigh whatever small disagreements I may have with him.

For further insight into why I as a Christian leader have chosen to support Dr. Paul, I invite people to read this article: http://stevedeace.com/news/iowa-politics/the-case-for-ron-paul-2/, or check out the Facebook group, Christians for Ron Paul 2012.
