The award recognizes the systematic use of the state's data resources to support the strategic plans of agencies and departments for effective service delivery.

The OCIO listened to feedback from customers to create a special rate for schools, school districts, and non-profits. This rate makes it easier for schools to utilize the state-of-the-art cybersecurity services offered by the OCIO.

Along with two other states, Iowa was praised for “The ability to recover from and maintain continuous IT and business operations during disasters and crisis conditions.” In 2018 and 2019 Iowa’s disaster-recovery capabilities were put to the test.
