SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (August 23, 2023) — With dangerously high levels of heat forecast across the state of Illinois in the coming days, including heat index forecasts in excess of 100 degrees, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and other state agencies are warning Illinoisans to take preventive actions to avoid heat-related illness like heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (August 1, 2023) The Rock Island County Health Department has confirmed the first West Nile virus positive mosquito batch reported in the county for 2023. No cases of the virus in humans have been reported.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 31, 2022) — The Rock Island County Health Department (RICHD) will hold its last 2022 walk-in flu vaccination clinic on Tuesday, November 1, during the same time as the ongoing Moderna COVID-19 vaccine clinic. The CDC advises that everyone six months and older can get the COVID-19 primary vaccine or booster and the flu shot at the same time.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (October 17, 2022) — The Rock Island County Health Department is offering walk-in Moderna bivalent (Omicron) boosters to everyone six and older starting Tuesday, October 18, during the regular Moderna vaccination clinic. Hours are 9AM-12PM and 1-4PM.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (September 19, 2022) — The Rock Island County Health Department (RICHD) will have only fifty doses of the new Moderna bivalent booster available for its regular Tuesday COVID-19 vaccination clinic on September 20. Doses of the Pfizer bivalent booster vaccine will be offered when this week’s Moderna supply runs out.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (September 2, 2022) — The Rock Island County Health Department expects to begin giving the new bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccines next week that are designed to protect against the Omicron subvariants. The timing of the clinics will depend on when shipments arrive after the Labor Day holiday.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (April 13, 2021) — The Rock Island County Health Department will substitute the two-dose Moderna vaccine at Thursday’s clinic at the Camden Centre in Milan because two US federal agencies recommended a pause in the use of the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine out of an “abundance of caution.” More than 800 patients had signed up for the one-dose J&J vaccine clinic.
