SHANGHAI (Sept. 15, 2017) – Gov. Bruce Rauner spent his first full day in China visiting Illinois financial and manufacturing companies in Shanghai. The governor and the team of delegates started the day with a roundtable with the Bank of China’s executives and its high-profile clients. The discussions centered around ways the state of Illinois and China can pull their efforts together and balance the trade efforts.

SHANGHAI (Sept. 14, 2017) – Gov. Bruce Rauner arrived in Shanghai, China, for the next stop in his first international trade mission of his administration. NAGOYA, Japan (Sept. 13, 2017) – Gov. Bruce Rauner left Tokyo today aboard a high-speed Shinkansen train and arrived in Nagoya to visit several of the top auto-suppliers in the world as part of his first international trade mission. In Nagoya, the governor met with senior executives from Aisin Seiki, Toyota Boshoku and Sakae Riken Kogyo.

TOKYO (Sept. 11, 2017) – Gov. Bruce Rauner stressed the need to further strengthen the U.S.-Japan relationship at today’s launch of the 49th Midwest U.S.-Japan Association Conference. The conference, which continues through Tuesday, unites business, education and government leaders in an effort to further trade and investment opportunities between the Midwest states and Japan.

 Gov. Rauner lauds tireless advocacy for children, families

CHICAGO (Sept. 11, 2017) – Secretary of Education Dr. Beth Purvis will be leaving the Office of the Governor on Friday, Sept. 15. Dr. Purvis will be joining a national nonprofit organization where she will oversee educational philanthropy.

“Beth has been a tireless advocate for Illinois children and families,” Gov. Rauner said. “We are deeply grateful for her efforts.”

TOKYO (Sept. 10, 2017) – Governor Bruce Rauner arrived in Tokyo where he will start the first international trade mission of his administration. Shortly after his arrival, the governor attended the welcome reception at the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association Conference.

Announces borrowing plan to pay down bill backlog, calls on General Assembly to help fix Illinois’ still out-of-balance budget

SPRINGFIELD (Sept. 7, 2017) – After conducting a thorough review of the out-of-balance fiscal year 2018 budget passed by the General Assembly in July, Gov. Bruce Rauner today announced he intends to exercise borrowing authority to issue $6 billion in bonds to pay down a portion of the state’s bill backlog.
