Congratulations to Nikhil Wagher and Hannah Laufenberg who took 1st place in their age group for their 3D 3R sculpture titled, Refunction, Dysfunction! They created a prosthetic arm holding hands with a real arm to exhibit the importance and growing advances in prosthetics that help people who have lost limb function in their daily lives. They repurposed over 20 different materials including items such as copper sheeting, cardboard, aluminum cans, old keys and hair curlers.

Congratulations to Laylon Baucom! His team's sculpture titled, Not Half Bad, took 1st place in their age group for their 3D 3R sculpture. Not Half Bad was created using items such as milk cartons, egg cartons, soda bottles, toothbrushes, and junk food adds. Students juxtaposed the positive impacts of a healthy lifestyle and the negative impacts of an unhealthy lifestyle.

Students had 2 hours to create a sculpture out of repurposed, recycled, re-useable materials following the theme "Technology for Health". This event took place at the Figge Art Museum on Saturday, October 17th and was organized by Global Awareness Citizens.

All of the students' sculptures will be on exhibit at Bucktown Center for the Arts, 225 E. 2nd Street, Suite 102 & 104, Davenport, Iowa 52801 at the Bereskin Fine Art Gallery & Studio.

Great collaborative efforts and fun at the Figge!

August 12, 2015, Bettendorf, IA - Workers from Bi-State Masonry have begun a $25,000 masonry and brick repair project at the historic Joseph Bettendorf Mansion that overlooks downtown Bettendorf. The grant from the Hubbell-Waterman Foundation was received by Rivermont Collegiate, the current owners, and is the first-phase in a total repair and restoration project that will cost an estimated $180,000. All funds are being privately raised and any company, group, or individual wishing to contribute should contact the school.

The 100 year-old structure built between 1914 -15 is listed on the National Historic Register and holds great significance in the Quad Cities community. It has served since 1972 as the home of Rivermont Collegiate (formerly St. Katharine's-St. Mark's) the only independent and religiously unaffiliated college prep school in the Quad Cities.

With a 2015 Iowa AP (Advanced Placement) Index of 5.33, Rivermont Collegiate is again the top ranked AP school in Iowa.

The Belin-Blank Center of The University of Iowa College of Education annually releases the Iowa AP Index to recognize Iowa high schools for providing Advanced Placement opportunities. The 2015 Iowa AP Index is based on May 2014 AP exams and graduation data. The formula is the number of AP exams given divided by the number of students in the graduating class. A high AP Index is a reflection that a school has a culture that is supportive of and places emphasis on student participation in AP courses and exams.

It's important to note that Magnet schools, Specially Accredited College Preparatory schools (Rivermont Collegiate), non-accredited schools, and home schools are not included in the AP Index Top 50 ranking. These schools, however, can receive special recognition for their score, as Rivermont has. Furthermore, because all schools are scored using the same formula, the Iowa AP Index provides a fair comparison across all school sizes and types, whether schools are included in the AP Index Top 50 ranking or not.
