Augustana College and Trinity College of Nursing and Health Sciences Take First Step Toward Integration, Strengthening Health-Care Education in the Quad Cities

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (December 23, 2025) — Augustana College and UnityPoint Health Trinity College of Nursing and Health Sciences have signed a definitive agreement to strengthen the future of health care education in the Quad Cities through the acquisition of Trinity College's academic programs and operations by Augustana College.

Augustana Oratorio Society to Perform Handel's “Messiah” February 22

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (December 17, 2025) — The Augustana College Department of Music presents Messiah on February 22, 3PM in Centennial Hall.

George Frideric Handel’s Messiah will be performed by the Augustana Oratorio Society, conducted by Dr Jon Hurty, director of choral activities. Soloists are Michelle Areyzaga, soprano; Dashon Burton, bass baritone; Stephen Soph, tenor; and Jessye Wright, mezzo soprano. A professional orchestra will accompany the performance.

Augustana College Presents "Season of Light" December 6-12

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (December 2, 2025) — Augustana College's John Deere Planetarium will present its annual holiday planetarium show, Season of Light, on December 6-12.

Shows will be offered Saturday and Sunday at 2PM and 3PM, and weekdays at 7PM. Doors will open fifteen minutes before each show. Latecomers will not be admitted. The program is not recommended for children ages seven and under.

Eric Newell Selected as Augustana College’s Director of Choral Activities

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (November 18, 2025) — Augustana College has appointed Eric Newell as director of choral activities beginning fall 2026.

Newell’s duties will include conducting the Augustana Choir, succeeding longtime conductor Dr Jon Hurty, who is retiring in June 2026.

“Eric Newell is a high-caliber musician, a thoughtful leader and a generous teacher," said Dr Jacob Bancks, co-chair of Augustana’s music department.

Augustana's Department of Theatre and Film Presents “The Mousetrap”

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (November 5, 2025) — The Augustana College Department of Theatre and Film will present The Mousetrap November 13-16 at the Brunner Theatre Center, located at 3750 7th Ave, Rock Island, Illinois, on the Augustana College campus.

Performances will start at 7:30PM, November 13-15, and 1:30PM, November 16.

Augustana College invites local governments and non-profits to share their biggest problems, and the college will bring the students, faculty, and expertise to help solve them.
