DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 12, 2014) - Featuring the logo of an iconic raccoon with bandana and cowboy hat, the Quad Cities River Bandits' cap has quickly become among the most recognizable in baseball, and now it among the leaders for the best cap in Minor League Baseball in the Clash of the Caps at MiLB.com.

One cap from each of the 160 Minor League Baseball teams is automatically entered in the contest, and the Bandits' cap is currently running third in the national contest - and is the only Single-A team in the nation currently in the top five. Fans can vote at MiLB.com/ClashoftheCaps or follow the link at riverbandits.com through Wednesday, May 21.

"Fans in the Quad Cities region and across the country have made the River Bandits cap one of the most popular in baseball, and this vote is further evidence of that," said team owner Dave Heller. "Our great fans can now show their Bandits pride to the entire baseball world by helping us win the Clash of the Caps competition."

As of Monday evening, the River Bandits home cap had received the most votes of any Single-A team and ranked No. 3 overall among all 160 minor league teams.

Fans can visit the MiLB.com/ClashoftheCaps) and vote for their favorite cap among randomly selected pairs. Upon voting, they will get another random pair. Fan choices will be recorded through Wednesday, May 21, and the winner will be announced on May 22.

River Bandits caps are available for purchase through the online team store using the link at riverbandits.com, as well at Modern Woodmen Park team store 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and during all home games. DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 9, 2014) - Right-hander Adrian Houser earned his first Midwest League victory as the first Quad Cities River Bandit to pitch six shutout innings this season, and his team won its season-high fourth straight game by a 5-1 final over the Beloit Snappers in front of a season-high 7,111 at Modern Woodmen Park Friday night.

Houser (1-1) retired the first eight batters of the game and had a 2-0 lead before the Snappers (13-21) had a baserunner. After pitching no more than four innings in any outing this season, Houser earned his first win since Aug. 18, 2012, and worked six innings for the first time since July 11, 2012. He scattered four hits and walked only two batters while striking out a season-high seven.

Houser stuck out at least one batter in every inning but the fifth, when Beloit managed its only two-baserunner inning against him. With two outs and runners at second and third bases, River Bandits center fielder James Ramsay chased down a deep fly ball by Snappers center fielder B.J. Boyd, ending Beloit's only chance with the tying run in scoring position over the final eight innings.

Quad Cities (16-18) took the lead in the first inning against left-hander Chris Lamb (0-1). Ramsay drew a leadoff walk, stole second base, and scored on first baseman Chase McDonald's RBI double to left-center field. Catcher Brian Holberton then singled to center field, bringing in McDonald and extending Holberton's team-season-high on-base streak to 16 games.

After Holberton's hit, Lamb retired 10 of the next 11 batters. He struck out eight batters and kept the 2-0 score until the fifth inning, when shortstop Thomas Lindauer hit a leadoff single to left field. Lindauer stole second base and after Ramsay drew a one-out walk, second baseman Chan-Jong Moon grounded into a fielder's choice while beating the relay throw to first base. But Lindauer kept running and scored from second base ahead of the throw to make it 3-0. Lamb allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks in five innings.

Quad Cities' left-hander Albert Minnis started the seventh inning with a 3-0 lead. He struck out two batters but walked two and allowed a single to load the bases. Right-hander Tyler Brunnemann came in to strike out right fielder Tyler Marincov to escape the jam.

In a 3-0 game, Snappers right-hander Sam Bragg walked Ramsay to begin the bottom of the seventh inning. Moon drove an RBI triple - his third of the homestand - to center field and scored on third baseman Tyler White's sacrifice fly for a 5-0 lead.

The shutout was intact until Beloit second baseman led off the ninth inning with a home run off Brunnemann, whose scoreless streak ended at 17 1/3 innings dating back to April 3. Brunnemann allowed a double and two walks to load the bases with two outs before being removed after two innings of work. With the tying run at the plate, left-hander Chris Cotton entered to strike out left fielder Jaycob Brugman to earn his first save in 16 career appearances.

Friday's crowd was the seventh-largest at Modern Woodmen Park since the start of the 2002 season and the largest for any April or May game in that time. Quad Cities will conclude the homestand at 6 p.m. Saturday. River Bandits right-hander Andrew Thurman (2-2) is scheduled to face Snappers right-hander Dylan Covey (2-2), as the home team seek its first sweep of an opponent this season.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 8, 2014) - Jobduan Morales and Brett Phillips hit consecutive RBI doubles with two outs in the eighth inning to complete the Quad Cities River Bandits' second straight comeback from a three-run deficit, and the team won its third straight game in a 6-5 victory over the Beloit Snappers in front of 1,087 at Modern Woodmen Park Thursday night.

After falling behind 3-0 and 5-2, the River Bandits (15-18) scored four runs in the eighth inning for a second straight game to match their longest winning streak of the season, which first occurred April 10-13.

In his return from the disabled list, River Bandits right-hander Michael Feliz worked around a first-inning single and second-inning walk to pitch two scoreless innings. Right-hander Patrick Christensen followed with a scoreless third inning, but right fielder Tyler Marincov led off the fourth with a double to center field, and designated hitter Jaycob Brugman drew a one-out walk. First baseman Ryan Huck hit an RBI single to left field, and second baseman Luis Baez followed with a two-run double down the left-field line to make it 3-0.

After Christensen allowed three earned runs on three hits and a walk in two innings, right-hander Gonzalo Sanudo started the fifth inning for Quad Cities. He allowed a single and walk to start his outing but got a ground ball to the mound and line-drive double play to escape.

Against Snappers right-hander Kyle Finnegan, Quad Cities was held to four hits and no runs through the first four innings. But Phillips led off the fifth with a triple down the right-field line and scored on second baseman Chan-Jong Moon's RBI groundout. Finnegan allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings, before right-hander Junior Mendez began the sixth with a 3-1 lead. First baseman Conrad Gregor doubled to left-center field on Mendez's first pitch, and scored on right fielder Ronnie Mitchell's single.

Beloit *13-20) added to its lead against Sanudo in the seventh. Pinch hitter Sam Roberts hit a leadoff single and moved to second base on a sacrifice. After a strikeout and two-out intentional walk to left fielder B.J. Boyd, Sanudo was removed after 2 2/3 innings. Right-hander Zach Morton (2-1) came in to allow Marincov's RBI single - his game-high third hit - before ending the inning with a 4-2 deficit. Morton allowed another run in the eighth inning, when Burgman hit a leadoff double and scored after Huck's single was bobbled by left fielder Tanner Mathis. Morton completed 1 1/3 innings, allowing an earned run on two hits with one strikeout.

With a 5-2 lead, Mendez began the eighth by allowing a single by shortstop Jack Mayfield, a walk to Gregor and an RBI single by third baseman Tyler White, who had his third straight multi-hit game and is 11-for-17 on the homestand. Mitchell put down a sacrifice against right-hander Stuart Pudenz (1-3), who allowed designated hitter Brian Holberton's sacrifice fly to make it 5-4. Morales drove a 3-2 pitch down the left-field line to score White for the tying run, and Phillips greeted right-hander Tyler Hollstegge with a double to score Morales.

With a 6-5 lead in the ninth inning, Quad Cities used a fifth pitcher of the game for the first time since April 8. Right-hander Andrew Walter got a groundout by center fielder Boog Powell and a foul popup by Boyd before striking out Marincov for his third save.

Quad Cities will try for a season-high fourth straight win against Beloit left-hander Chris Lamb at 7 p.m. Friday.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 6, 2014) - Tyler White became the first River Bandit in nearly two years with a five-hit game, and every player in the Quad Cities lineup had at least one of the team's season-high 18 hits in a 10-4 victory over the Cedar Rapids Kernels in front of a season-high 5,206 on Tuesday at Modern Woodmen Park.

White became the first River Bandit with five hits in a game since June 10, 2012, when Tyler Rahmatulla tied a Midwest League record with six hits - including two home runs, two singles and two doubles - in a 16-15, 11-inning loss at Burlington. The 18 hits for the River Bandits Tuesday were their most since they posted 20 hits in an 18-7 win June 11, 2012 at Burlington.

After being held to four hits by the Kernels Monday, Quad Cities (13-18) started immediately with four straight hits against left-hander Josue Montanez (0-1). Center fielder James Ramsay lined a leadoff single to center field, and second baseman Chan-Jong Moon grounded an RBI triple down the third-base line. With the infield in, designated hitter Jack Mayfield bounced a hit past shortstop Engelb Vielma to score Moon. First baseman Chase McDonald then lined a single to right field. Two batters later, White singled through the left side of the infield to score Mayfield for a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the second inning, River Bandits right-hander Jandel Gustave (1-2) allowed a leadoff home run by Kernels first baseman Bryan Haar. But that was the only run he allowed in the first two innings, when he struck out four of the first eight Kernels batters.

In the bottom of the second, Montanez retired the first two batters, before Ramsay became the first baserunner with a two-out walk. Moon lined his second RBI triple down the left-field line to become the first River Bandit with a two-triple game since Jordan Scott hit two Sept. 2, 2013, against Beloit. Mayfield followed with an RBI single to left field, and McDonald and right fielder Ronnie Mitchell drew consecutive walks to end Montanez's day. Right-hander Todd Van Steensel entered to face White, who drove a three-run double over the head of right fielder Zack Larson to extend the lead to 8-1.

Cedar Rapids (18-13) began to close the deficit against Gustave, who began the third inning with a hit batter, walk, hit batter and designated hitter Mitch Garver's RBI single. A ground-ball double play brought in another run for an 8-3 score. In the fourth inning, Gustave allowed consecutive one-out walks and a single by left fielder J.D. Williams that loaded the bases. Left-hander Chris Cotton (1-2) relieved Gustave and got a fielder's choice that brought in one run to make it 8-4, followed by an inning-ending groundout. After Gustave was charged with four earned runs on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings, Cotton retired every batter in the fifth and sixth innings to complete 2 2/3 hitless innings. Right-hander Kevin Comer followed by allowing two hits in three scoreless innings to earn his second three-inning save in as many Midwest League appearances.

Quad Cities scored in the fourth on Mitchell's first Midwest League home run, followed by White's single for his third hit. Ramsay doubled and scored on McDonald's RBI single in the fifth to make it 10-4. White singled in the sixth and doubled in the seventh to go 5-for-5.

By snapping a three-game losing streak, Quad Cities set a rubber match against Cedar Rapids for 7 p.m. Wednesday. River Bandits left-hander Evan Grills (1-0) is scheduled to face Kernels right-hander Kohl Stewart (1-1).
