Dickens is a Mathematics major. He is a graduate of Bettendorf High School and the son of Dan Dickens and Jayne Rose.

The Dean's list recognizes students with a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4-point scale. NORTHFIELD, MN (06/02/2014)(readMedia)-- The following local residents graduated from St. Olaf College. St. Olaf President David R. Anderson '74, awarded 785 diplomas to the class of 2014.

Laura Beck of Bettendorf graduated with an Individual major. She is the daughter of Timothy and Martha Beck .

Joseph Dickens of Bettendorf graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Mathematics major. He was awarded distinction in Mathematic sand Statistics. He is the son of Dan Dickens and Jayne Rose.

In his remarks, Anderson told the graduating seniors, "The habits of mind and heart are the elements of your St. Olaf education that will accompany you the longest after you leave campus and they will provide life direction for you. They include the ability to think analytically, to be creative and imaginative, to listen thoughtfully and with compassion, and to commit yourself to a set of values that guide your behavior."

Dickens, from Bettendorf, is a Mathematics major. He is the son of Dan Dickens and Jayne Rose.

Honors Day recognizes students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The convocation also recognizes students who have been awarded scholarships and fellowships, including Fulbright scholars, Goldwater scholars, and senior members of leadership and academic honor societies.

The ceremony began with a colorful academic procession led by St. Olaf President David R. Anderson '74, and the address to students was given by Religion Professor Eric Lund. The ceremony was followed by a reception for students, parents, friends of the college, faculty and staff.
