DES MOINES, IOWA (December 4, 2019) — George Anderson, a 13-year teaching veteran who presents his history classes as hands-on, problem-solving opportunities, is the Iowa Department of Education’s 2020 Teacher of the Year, Governor Kim Reynolds announced today at Cedar Rapids’ Kennedy High School. 

DES MOINES, IOWA (December 3, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds signed Executive Order 5 (EO5) requiring all new contracts for the purchase of state vehicles with diesel engines to have written support from the manufacturer to use B20 biodiesel (a blend of 20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum-based diesel) or more. Gov Reynolds signed the executive order at the Iowa Farm Bureau’s Annual Meeting in Des Moines.

Bert, of Bettendorf, Iowa, currently practices law with the Brooks Law Firm PC in Davenport and Rock Island. He received his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 27, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds today announced her appointment of Laura Parrish as a district court judge in Judicial Election District 1A. 

Parrish, of Decorah, Iowa, currently practices law with Miller, Pearson, Gloe, Burns, Beatty, and Parrish in Decorah, Iowa. She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell College and her law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 27, 2019) – Governor Kim Reynolds today announced her appointment of Paul Ahlers as a judge of the Iowa Court of Appeals.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 26, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds extended two proclamations relating to the transportation of grain and the hours of service for the delivery of propane. 

The governor signed a proclamation extending her September 30, 2019, proclamation that allowed vehicles transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, and stover to be overweight (not exceeding 90,000 pounds gross-weight) without a permit, for the duration of this proclamation.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 26, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds pardoned two turkeys at Terrace Hill in Des Moines, continuing a longstanding Thanksgiving tradition celebrating Iowa’s Turkey Industry. Benjamin and Franklin will move from Ponderosa farm to Living History Farms in Urbandale.
