Jobs Up in Majority of Metro Areas in March

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (April 29, 2024) — Over-the-year, total non-farm jobs increased in nine metropolitan areas, decreased in four, and was unchanged in one for the year ending March 2024, according to data released Thursday, April 25, by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (DES). Over-the-year, the unemployment rate increased in eleven metropolitan areas, decreased in two, and remained unchanged in one.

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (November 27, 2023) — Over-the-year, total nonfarm jobs increased in eleven metropolitan areas and decreased in three for the year ending October 2023, according to data released today by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (DES). Over-the-year, the unemployment rate increased in thirteen metropolitan areas and decreased in one.

Unemployment Rates Down for the Fifth Straight Month, Jobs Up in Most Metro Areas

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (September 24, 2021) — The unemployment rate decreased over-the-year in all fourteen Illinois metropolitan areas in August for the fifth straight month according to preliminary data were released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). Jobs were up in all metro areas, with the exception of the Bloomington Metropolitan Statistical Area.
