Davenport, Iowa (February 24, 2014) - It may be cold here in the Quad Cities, but the Figge Art Museum will turn up the heat with the Mardi Gras Rajun Cajun Fest on Fat Tuesday, March 4.

Chefs from the Figge, Machine Shed, Crow Valley Country Club, Sippi's, Select Specialty Hospital, Johnny's Italian Steakhouse, Paddle Wheel, Thunder Bay and Gramma's Kitchen will be set up in the lobby of the museum from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and will cook Cajun-inspired dishes for guests to sample.

The dishes of the evening will include crawfish tacos, Cajun seasoned pork tenderloin topped with candied bacon, Cajun catfish sliders with Creole slaw, slow cooked beef cheek with a Cajun crawfish celery root remoulade, Creole shrimp, spicy deep fried oysters with corn bread casserole, alligator gumbo, Louisiana stuffed jalapeno peppers with Cajun bacon, Café Du Monde liquid nitrogen ice cream, chicken and sausage etouffee and more.

Guests are invited to get into the Mardi Gras spirit by tasting all the flavorful dishes, participating in a make-your-own Mardi Gras mask art activity, enjoying a Mardi Gras themed photo area, partaking in a cash bar and casting votes for their favorite chef of the evening. The winning chef will receive a People's Choice plaque and bragging rights.

This is the second year the Figge has hosted this event and all proceeds will benefit the museum's art education outreach programs to thousands of area students. Visit www.figgeartmuseum.org to purchase advance tickets for $25. Tickets at the door will be $30.

QUAD CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CUTS RIBBON ON SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT BUILDING EXPANSION

Moline, Illinois - The Quad City International Airport is proud to unveil their newly expanded snow removal equipment building. Working closely with Valley Construction Company of Rock Island, IL, this building expansion and remodeling project will house the equipment that does nothing less than keep the airport up and running during winter snow events.

The existing snow removal equipment building, also known as the Airfield Maintenance Building, was formerly 32,000 sf.  With a 24,000 sf expansion, the building is now a total of 56,000 sf.  Local members of the design & construction team include  McClure Engineering, Dennis Kelly & Associates, and Valley Construction.  The project began in the Fall of 2012 and was completed within twelve months.  An IMPACT agreement was in place for the project which is a partnership between the Tri-City Building Trades, contractors, and owners that helps ensure the completion of a quality construction project in the most cost-efficient and timely basis.

Bruce Carter, Director of Aviation, says "We are very grateful to have a dedicated team of employees, some with decades of experience, who keep our runways clear under all forms of winter weather conditions." Carter adds, "This new building provides state-of-the-art maintenance, storage, and training space to support their hard work-- and keep the equipment, which is critical to winter operations, ready to go at a moment's notice."

A grand opening event is planned for Tuesday, August 20th.

My Orchestra will be playing on New Year's Eve this year at the Rhythm City Casino.  This will be our first time performing at the casino, but definitely not the last!  The Rhythm City has hired my full orchestra to play the first Saturday of every month, starting in February.  We'll be debuting new music at each show, as well as playing our favorites from the 1920's and early 30's.  We'll also be debuting our new band name, so lots of great changes happening in 2013!

Here are the details incase you're interested in coming out on NYE to hear my group.  Our last song will be Auld Lang Syne, just like the original version that everyone is so familiar with from years ago.

Where:  The Rhythm City Casino, Downtown Davenport Riverfront
