Midwest Technical Institute will be hosting its Summer Open House Thursday, August 23 from 5pm to 8pm and Saturday, August 25 from 10am to 2pm. Midwest Technical Institute (MTI) has been a part of the Illinois community since 1995 and the Quad Cities campus was established in 2011. It is our mission to be a leader in promoting student learning and achievement in a variety of careers and trades. We currently have workforce training programs in the Mechanical Trades and Allied Health. Our programs include Journeyman Welding, HVAC - Major Appliance Repair, Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Pharmacy Tech and Massage Therapy. Midwest Technical Institute would like to welcome the general public and those interested in the school to come by and see the campus. The Instructors and Staff will be on hand to give tours and help answer any questions about our workforce training programs. For those interested in enrollment, our admissions and financial aid staff will be available to answer questions as well as to assist with enrollment paperwork and applying for financial aid. Please stop by and see what MTI has to offer.

Free blood pressure screenings to be performed by medical assisting students.

At Thursday's Open House, we will have our Lincoln Electric Virtual Reality Arc Welding Simulator available for the public to tryout. The simulator produces real-time, welding technique feedback similar to a video game. Come give welding a try!

Current students will be available to talk about their programs and experience at the school.

There will be door prizes.

Free food and drinks will be available.

Midwest Technical Institute will be hosting its "Meet the Grads" event on Thursday, July 19 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. "Meet The Grads" is a casual meet and greet function to allow prospective employers to talk with the graduates from our mechanical trades and health care programs. The event gives graduates the opportunity to showcase their abilities and for employers to check out prospective employees in a stress free environment. Graduates will be prepared with resumes and be able to show employers skills in the shops if requested. The event is open to all interested employers in the Quad Cities area.

Employers can stop in any time between 11:00am and 1:00pm. Lunch is provided and a private interview area will also be available.

Midwest Technical Institute is proud to present our First Annual High School Welding Competition for local High Schools and
Vocational Schools in the area. The competition is a great learning experience for all students involved and gives students a chance to
see how their skills compare to other students in the area. The students will complete a project consisting of out of position welding
using 7018 rod and take a written exam to demonstrate their knowledge on terminology and blueprint reading.
The top 3 winners will receive Cash Prizes:
• First place-$500, Second place-$250, & Third place-$100
• Top 10 winners will receive medals.

This year's competition we have the following schools registered to attend: Central High School(Davenport, IA), Central High School
(Clinton County, IA), East Dubuque High School (IA), Mercer County High School (Aledo, IL), Scales Mound High School (Jo
Daviess County, IL), West High School (Davenport, IA), and West Branch High School (West Branch, IA). Welding promptly starts
at 9:00am and ends at 11:00am. Friends and family are more than welcome to attend the competition. Presentation of awards and
pictures will start at 12:00pm. We are also excited to announce that of our Lincoln Electric Virtual Reality Arc Welding Simulator
will be available for competitors and spectators to try. The simulator produces real-time, welding technique feedback similar to a
video game.

MTI's mission for the competition is to encourage high school vocational students to continue to practice and educate themselves
in the mechanical trade fields. Often vocational programs are overlooked by other school programs. It is our hope that thru the
competition we can show support for the local vocational programs and highlight these talented students for their hard work and skill.
