St. James Lutheran Church's "Living Nativity" takes place in the church parking lot on Saturday, December 19 from 5-7 p.m. and Sunday, December 20 from 4-6 p.m. St. James is located at 1705 Oak Street in Bettendorf, just up the hill from K&K Hardware. Please enter from Oak Street.

Congregation members will present the Christmas Story every 30 minutes, featuring live animals, and carolers will sing seasonal music. The public can walk through the parking lot to view the Nativity. Nonperishable donations for the St. James Food Pantry and winter clothing for the St. James Clothes Closet will be collected. A soup supper will be served in the church fellowship hall from 6-7 p.m. on Sunday, December 20.

Get Your Spooky On At Trunk or Treat

 

All ages are invited to join St. James Lutheran Church members in the church parking lot for "Trunk or Treat"      on Saturday, October 26 from 3-5 p.m.  Wear your best costume, enjoy games and collect lots of candy!  A community meal of chili, tomato soup, grilled cheese and salad will be served starting at 5:30 p.m.

The St. James Food Pantry is hosting a spaghetti luncheon fundraiser on Saturday, August 17 from 11: 30 a.m.-2p.m. in the fellowship hall at St. James Lutheran Church, 1705 Oak Street (corner of 18th and Oak Streets), Bettendorf, IA.  The menu will include spaghetti, tossed salad, garlic bread, desserts, and drinks. A freewill donation will be collected to benefit the St. James Food pantry.

The food pantry's mission is to feed the hungry in the city of Bettendorf.  In the month of July alone, 313 people received food assistance.  Visitors to the food pantry receive a variety of canned goods, along with frozen meat, milk, eggs and fresh vegetables when available.
Speak-Easy, an Alzheimer's caregiver support group, meets the second Tuesday of every month from 1-2:30 p.m., starting April 9th in the Fellowship Hall (basement) of St. James Lutheran Church, 1705 Oak Street in Bettendorf. The meetings are drop-in. Please enter through the lower level, south entrance. St. James Lutheran Church in Bettendorf will hold their 5th annual Halloween Party for kids on Saturday, October 23rd from 2-4 p.m. in the church's basement.  There will be games, prizes, treats, face painting and more.  Wear your costume and bring a friend!
