DES MOINES, IOWA (May 30, 2024) — Auditor of State Rob Sand has released a reaudit report on the Bettendorf Community School District (District) for the period July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. The reaudit was performed at the request of petitioners pursuant to Section 11.6(4)(a)(3) of the Code of Iowa. The petition submitted to the Office of Auditor of State requested a reaudit of the year ended June 30, 2022.

The bill lets state agencies and the Governor work together to hide documents from the auditor and eliminates checks and balances by killing Iowa courts’ ability to review such decisions.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (May 26, 2023) — State Auditor Rob Sand accompanied Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and a bi-partisan group of elected officials on a Thursday, May 25 tour of a large-scale modernization project at the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids. The project is funded in part by a $20 million grant made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 25, 2023) — Auditor of State Rob Sand has released a report on a special investigation of the City of Eldridge located in Scott County. The special investigation was requested by City officials as a result of concerns regarding certain financial transactions processed by the former City Clerk, Denise Benson, and covered the period January 1, 2017 through October 31, 2022.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 6, 2023) — State Auditor Rob Sand today urged leaders in Iowa’s rural communities to apply for funding from the Energy Improvements in Rural or Remote Areas (ERA) program. The program is designed to provide financial investment, technical assistance, and other resources to advance clean energy in communities with fewer than 10,000 people.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 6, 2023) — State Auditor Rob Sand announced today that he will vote against tax-payer funds being used to pay half of a discrimination lawsuit against the University of Iowa Athletic Department during Director Gary Barta’s tenure, unless Barta is no longer employed by the Department. If approved by the State Appeal Board, the settlement would cost Iowa tax-payers $2 million dollars.
