MADISON - Approximately 1,100 students received degrees during the University of Wisconsin-Madison's winter commencement ceremonies on Dec. 18, 2011.

Former Badger football player, U.S. Marine and international relief worker Jake Wood delivered the charge to graduates at commencement ceremonies held at the Kohl Center.

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State University has released the Fall 2011 President's List. To qualify for this list, an undergraduate student must attain a semester 4.0 grade point average and must complete 12 semester hours of credit.

Founded in 1867, Truman is Missouri's only highly selective public liberal arts and sciences university. U.S. News & World Report's 2012 edition of "Best Colleges" ranked Truman as the No. 1 public university in the Midwest region for the 15th consecutive year. Truman was ranked No. 1 by Consumers Digest on its list of "Top 50 Values for Public Colleges and Universities" released in the magazine's June 2011 edition. In its "2011 College Rankings," Washington Monthly listed Truman No. 3 among master's universities nationwide based upon the institution's contributions to the public good, with student service as one of three criteria. Kiplinger's Personal Finance placed Truman at No. 23 on its list of "100 Best Values in Public Colleges" for 2012. Baldwin City, Kan. - More than 700 undergraduate, graduate and nursing students at Baker University received their degrees during commencement ceremonies Dec. 17-18 at the Collins Center.  Among the graduates is Kelsey Jurkowski of Bettendorf, Iowa with a Master of Business Administration.

IOWA FALLS, IOWA - One hundred thirty-nine students have been named to the Fall 2011 (August to December) Dean's List at Ellsworth Community College. To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must have taken 12 or more credit hours during the semester (a full-time class load) and have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average while attending ECC classes in Iowa Falls or online. WHITEWATER, WI - The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater announced more than 2,900 students were named to the fall 2011 Dean's List. To be eligible for the honor, students must have a 3.4 semester grade point average with a minimum of 12 semester credits and no grades lower than a "C."  Brooke M.
