Viewers Can Escape in Exhibit's Worlds

The works of Ralph Iaccarino and Jay Stratton have such a professional finish that they allow the viewer to concentrate totally on their shapes, form, and feelings. It really is a joy to observe and walk from piece to piece in their two-person show at the MidCoast Fine Arts Gallery in LeClaire's Iowa Welcome Center, because there isn't a weak link among them.

Quantifiable Differences in Wal-Mart Dark Store Agreement Just "Semantics"?

Hopefully, the public has been watching Super Wal-Mart as it has proceeded, at times allegedly unlawfully, toward its ultimate conclusion. The last leg of this development travesty was the "dark store agreement" conceived and perpetrated upon Davenport taxpayers by Alderman Bob McGivern, who only further demonstrated his lack of understanding of business matters so crucial to the proceedings.

On Monday, March 19, 2001, Davenport aldermen received a memo that stated, "After three years of negotiation and attempting to reach an agreement to renovate John O'Donnell Stadium and to make Minor A baseball successful in Davenport, the City of Davenport and the Quad City River Bandits have agreed that it is in the best interest of both parties to move ahead and go in separate directions.
