Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 Fourth Avenue, Rock Island IL

Retired Rock Island High School teacher Janet Moline leads an informal discussion on our area's most beautiful flying insects in a new Quad City Botanical Center presentation – offered on August 16 and 19 – in River Action's Riverine Walks series.

Moline will discuss the species and its local abundance, and also offer tips on raising monarch butterflies, in this latest Riverine Walk, a program designed to inform Quad Cities residents and visitors about the environment, culture, and history through interactive discussions and activities. Future Riverine Walk topics include “Plants and Ecology of the Mississippi River and Its Floodplain” on August 23 and 26, and “Museum without Walls” on August 30 and September 2.

Admission to “Raising Monarch Butterflies”' 9 a.m. program on August 19 is free for River Action members and $6 for non-members, and reservation information is available by calling (563)322-2969 or visiting RiverAction.org/education.
