· This Tuesday brings the anticipated release of Go Tell It on the Mountain, the first holiday- themed album from the acclaimed Blind Boys of Alabama. The Real Word Records release boasts a wide range of guests, with highlights including Aaron Neville on "Joy To the World," Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders and Richard Thompson of Fairport Convention on "In the Bleak Midwinter," Funkadelic's George Clinton on "Away In a Manger," and Tom Waits on the title track. Other artists involved also include Shelby Lynne, Meshell Ndegeocello, Robert Randolph, and John Medeski. A portion of the proceeds benefits diabetes research.

· BBC Video collects rare video clips from the United Kingdom's Old Grey Whistle Test for the American DVD audience this Tuesday, featuring live studio performances from the 1970s and 1980s. As an alternative to the hit-conscious Top of the Pops, the Old Grey Whistle Test debuted many new-wave acts for national broadcast. Highlights include an early "Psycho Killer" from the Talking Heads and other hits and album tracks from The Police, U2, the Ramones, John Lennon, and Elton John.

· Bob Dylan fans embracing the new Super Audio Compact Disc format are in for a mother lode of upgraded re-issues this Tuesday, as the Columbia Legacy label releases 15 of his best albums, re-mixed from the original multi-track masters. All the discs are hybrid CDs, playable on both regular and SACD players. Six of the titles - Another Side of Bob Dylan, Bringing It All Back Home, Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks, Slow Train Coming, and Love & Theft - boast triple-layer technology, featuring 5.1-channel surround-sound audio separation.

· Quentin Tarantino's soundtrack selections often get as much attention as his stars, and the track listing on his upcoming Kill Bill set sounds like fun, mixing dialogue with rockabilly, New Orleans jazz, Wu Tang Clan beats, and - dig this - the master of the pan flute. Released later this month on the Maverick imprint, the soundtrack promises Nancy Sinatra, Charlie Feathers, RZA, the 5.6.7.8's, Isaac Hayes, and the magical Zamfir.
