DaytrotterThere's a lot to announce this week, after a few weeks of corresponding hiatus. First and foremost, starting this week, Daytrotter.com will be posting one brand new exclusive recording session seven days a week. Every day this month we're going to try to embody the holiday spirit more and more. If this trial month goes well, we'll continue the seven-days-a-week-of-new-session-posting throughout 2009. That would mean 365 days of sessions and at least 1,460 free songs. We hope that this makes you happy.

We're partially hoping that you'll feel the urge -- after getting all these free songs -- to come out to one of our Daytrotter Presents shows here in the Quad Cities or to pick up one of the new and soft T-shirts or hoodies that are now available on the site. Everything helps us continue on our mission to make the Quad Cities a hotbed for every band in the world to want to stop on its way through or not through. These stylish Ts and hoodies are available via our site and at our live shows.

This week we have The Hush Sound, Peasant, Takka Takka, Shelley Short (who earlier this year opened for Amos Lee at Huckleberry's), Damien Jurado, and The Swimmers sessions posting on the site. We're recording Juliana Hatfield, Deastro, Dead Confederate, Kevin Devine, Young Coyotes, The Builders & the Butchers, The Boxing Lesson, and Denison Witmer this week.

We have three phenomenal live shows on our schedule. The first is December 10 at Huckleberry's and will feature an act that put out one of our favorite records of the year, the roots and blues outfit The War on Drugs, with Team Love openers McCarthy Trenching.

December 13 will be the return of Daytrotter Presents shows to RIBCO, as we bring an early all-ages show to the District. Appearing live, for one night only, will be two of the most buzzed about bands in the world: Sweden's Love Is All and Brooklyn's Crystal Stilts. The show starts at 5 p.m. and is a steal at $5.

The final show to report is a Super Bowl Sunday show on February 1 featuring the legendary Elf Power and Vic Chesnutt of Athens, Georgia, at Huckleberry's. Not to be missed. - Your friend, Daytrotter
