Pepi Ginsberg We had a last-minute show this past weekend with the always tremendous Delta Spirit, from California way. Those of you who were at Huckleberry's the last time they were in town know this. We regret that there wasn't more time to get the word out that they were going to be in town, but we found out just a few hours before they were set to arrive for a session that they were going to be here in time to play. They'd made a long drive from Salt Lake City the night before and hauled it east to make it so that we could add them to the Southeast Engine bill. It might be the best show in the Quad Cities that only 10 people showed up for in the past five years or more.

If you'd like to stay completely up-to-date about Daytrotter Presents shows, send us an e-mail at daytrotter@gmail.com and write "Daytrotter Presents mailing list" in the subject line. We send out updates around shows, and if you'd been on the list last week, you would have had five hours to prepare yourself or change plans to get out to see Delta Spirit. You'll just have to watch them on Conan O'Brien tonight (September 3) instead - another Vampire Weekend story.

Next up for Daytrotter is a pair of shows next week involving former Wooden Wand man James Jackson Toth, who's now gone even more traditionally folk. He will be a treat September 9 at Huckleberry's.

The next night is our buddy Pepi Ginsberg from New York City. She writes some mesmerizing, soulful rock and roll. We are working on a headliner for that night with Pepi, and there's a chance that it will be The Hush Sound from Chicago. Keep checking Daytrotter.com or sign up for our newsletter for an update.

We also just finalized the September 24 show at the Capitol Theatre. It will be a killer night. We have the 17-member psych orchestra Dark Meat playing on the same bill as Damien Jurado and Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson - an underground legend and one of the most talented young acts in the country, recently featured on the cover of Fader and whose record was recorded by members of Grizzly Bear. - Daytrotter
