· The Pet Shop Boys tackled an ambitious project last year by composing new music for the silent film Battleship Potemkim. This Tuesday England's Parlophone Records is releasing the import-only CD, putting an electronic backdrop to something made in 1925.
· With Mother Nature showing her fury last week in the Gulf Coast, a new CD collects contemporary Native Americans in tribute to the comforting, healing nature of Mother Earth. Compiled by Silverwave Records, Sacred Ground features 10 tracks from Bill Miller, Joanne Shenandoah, and the Little Wolf Band featuring flautist Robert Mirabal.
· A new limited-edition CD collection is available exclusively at The Gap with a purchase of $60 or more, with eight artists selecting a favorite tune to cover. Highlights include Alanis Morissette going a little "Crazy" with the Seal hit, John Legend covering the Isley Brothers' "Hello, It's Me," Jason Mraz giving up Bob Marley's "One Love," and Brandon Boyd's take on Elvis Costello's "Alison." Other artists include Michelle Branch, Joss Stone, and Keith Urban.
