· Can a performer play the annual St. Paddy's Day celebration on both sides of the ocean? Well, due to unusual circumstances last year, Shane MacGowan and his Popes were able to do just that, performing in both Dublin and New York City - a live document of which is being released this Tuesday. Titled Across the Broad Atlantic on the Eagle Records label, the founding member of the Pogues and his new band first played the New York affair, and then in Dublin, as the traditional Irish event was postponed because of the outbreak of hoof-and-mouth disease. The 20-track set features lots of Pogues classics such as "Dirty Old Town," "If I Should Fall from Grace with God," and "Fairytale of New York."

· Two founding members of the mysterious Cocteau Twins pop up on the radar next week. On the Instinct label, Robin Guthrie unveils his new Violet Indiana project, a collaborative effort with Mono vocalist Siobhan De Mare. Guthrie's partner in early ethereal adventure, Simon Raymonde, also surfaces Tuesday with his production of the new album from The Czars, The Ugly People vs. The Beautiful People on the Manifesto label. The release is the stateside issue of the critically acclaimed UK sophomore set from the band, originally issued on Guthrie's and Raymonde's own Bella Union imprint. Often referred to as the Colorado Beatles, this Rocky Mountain quartet swells with an emotional folk-rock sound now charged with Raymonde's production skills and crowd-pleasing tours with David Gray, Low, and Dirty Three.

· More songs from the Moulin Rouge film are being released this Tuesday on the Interscope label. This second set features highlights "Like a Virgin," the instrumental version of "Your Song," and Ewan McGregor's "Ascension/Nature Boy."
