· This Tuesday the Lost Highway Records imprint is releasing the soundtrack to HBO's Deadwood with a unique twist. Featuring the show's theme by David Schwartz and music from Jelly Roll Morton, Mississippi John Hurt, June Carter Cash, Lyle Lovett, and Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee, two CD versions will be available: one with just the music and the other sprinkled with dialogue gems between the tracks from the potty-mouthed cast of characters, including Calamity Jane, Wild Bill Hickock, and the appropriately named Al Swearengen (as in: swearing again and again and again).

· The Flaming Lips are fulfilling a wish expressed last year: performing a one-time interpretation of the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" with a megaphone. Next month a new studio recording of the cover will grace the Lips as the band joins the ranks of Azuli Records' Late Night Tales CD series, serving as midnight-hour DJs with a mix of personal favorites and interesting aural juxtapositions. In the way that examining someone's bookcase or record collection can be strangely enlightening, what can be said for a song list that includes the Mice Parade, Brian Eno, Love & Rockets, and Roxy Music? Other selections come from Miles Davis, Nick Drake, 10cc, and Chris Bell of Big Star. The cover of "Seven Nation Army" comes with quite a handle - dubbed "Harry Potter's and George W. Bush's Severed Head Army Mix." Super fans can bow down to the glorious wax and get the track in a limited seven-inch single, released next week exclusively through the label's Web site. Only 100 copies of the single are being pressed, making this instantly one of the hottest Lips collectables ever.

· Three upcoming releases boast an impressive list of stars. Later this month Thievery Corporation and Eighteenth Street Lounge Records present The Cosmic Game, with guests Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips, Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction, and Talking Heads founder David Byrne. March brings Lullabies to Paralyze from Queens of the Stone Age on Interscope Records. The guitar-heavy set features guests Chris Goss of Masters of Reality, Alain Johannes of Eleven, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, and vocalists Shirley Manson of Garbage and Brody Dalle of The Distillers. Returning with a new two-CD set on Vagrant Records come spring, The Eels' new Blinking Lights & Other Revelations album sports collaborations with Tom Waits, Peter Buck of R.E.M., and John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful.

Baby Spice) this evening overnight, and the return of Night Ranger on Monday overnight; Jimmy Kimmel Live features The Features this evening overnight; Austin City Limits presents the Robert Randolph & the Family Band this weekend; and Saturday Night Live's musical guest this weekend is Keane.
