· This Tuesday brings the release of a new single worth crowing about. "Danger! High Voltage" is the love cry of Electric Six, a Detroit five-piece that has simply blown me away with its homage-heavy sound, buzzing with dramatic energy like a Talking Heads' open-tent rejuvenation of the church of rock and roll. The four songs on the XL/Beggars Banquet CD EP revel in art-college garage swagger, alternating between percolating disco rhythms and fat musk-cologne mullet rock. Full of crowd-pleasing theatrics and barnstorming guitars, the two rockers, "Remote Control (Me)" and "I Lost Control (of My Rock & Roll)," perfectly laud the silliness and the deadly seriousness of revival rock and roll, with tips of the hat to The Tubes, Loverboy, Alice Cooper, Angel City, and mirror-ball-era KISS. But it's the single - debuting in the number-two position on the UK pop charts this week - that really burns up the dance floor. With chants of "When we touch / When we kiss / Danger danger / High voltage / Fire in the disco / Fire in the Taco Bell," the two mixes possess a joyful, funky sizzle. Amen!

· From the previews and television commercials, the upcoming Daredevil motion picture looks fantastic, and this Tuesday the soundtrack hits store shelves. Featuring twenty tracks, the Wind Up Records CD features new music from Moby, Chevelle, Hoobastank, Saliva, Nickelback, and the teaming of the Nappy Roots with P.O.D.'s Marcos Curiel. Other collaborations include Drowning Pool with Rob Zombie and SPK's Graeme Revell with Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger. Look for the first single, "Won't Back Down" by Fuel.

Television Alert:

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno welcomes Michelle Branch tonight; The Late Show with David Letterman serves up Phish on Friday and The Roots on Tuesday; Late Night with Conan O'Brien hosts Split Enz and Crowded House founder Neil Finn on Friday overnight; Saturday Night Live's musical guest this weekend is Phish; and The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn features the strange re-incarnation of The Doors (with founding members Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek, and Ian Astbury of The Cult on vocals and Stewart Copeland of The Police on drums) on Thursday overnight.
