· Eenie Meenie Records has conceived a nifty project with modern artists revisiting children's recordings composed by the enigmatic Dimension 5 in the 1960s. Next month the label will release Dimension Mix, with part of the proceeds benefiting the Cure Autism Now fund. Artists answering the call include Beck, Money Mark, The Eels, Stereolab, DJ Me DJ You, the Danielson Famile, Apples in Stereo, and Fantastic Plastic Machine.
· PBS television is airing a two-part documentary on Bob Dylan in September, directed by Martin Scorsese. Columbia Legacy is releasing the soundtrack to the film, No Direction Home, next month as the seventh installment in the "Dylan bootleg" series.
· With Freddie Mercury's majestic presence sorely missed at the recent Live 8 concerts, a new tribute to Queen is due August 2 from Hollywood Records. Killer Queen's set list is one mentally intriguing possibility after another, with Los Lobos covering "Sleepin' on the Sidewalk," Antigone Rising's femdom take on "Fat Bottomed Girls," Jason Mraz's smooth spin on "Good Old Fashioned Loverboy," and the Flaming Lips working out their own strange arrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody." Other artists include Eleven with Josh Homme, Sum 41, Rooney, Jon Brion, and Joss Stone.
