Reader issue #652 Since its inception last year, Daytrotter.com has brought dozens of up-and-coming (and sometimes established) indie bands to the Quad Cities for quick-and-dirty recording sessions that are then shared with the world through the Web.

Not to be ungrateful, but while it's great that cool bands are coming to our area, the local community hasn't gotten much benefit from founder Sean Moeller's efforts. That's changing, and in the next week Daytrotter is hosting a pair of concerts showcasing idiosyncratic artists who illustrate what Daytrotter is all about. (Both have recorded Daytrotter sessions, with free songs available on the site.)

Peter & the Wolf will perform on Sunday at Huckleberry's, while Paleo plays at Mix Tapes on Monday. (The A Sides and Coyote Bones will also play a Daytrotter show October 11 at the Redstone Room.)

And if you're one of those people who complains that there are few interesting acts coming through the Quad Cities, these guys will likely disabuse you of that notion.
