• The youthful audience of the WB network's hit show Everwood is getting a music-history lesson with this Tuesday's release of its original television soundtrack. The Nettwerk Records' CD features current artists covering old-school FM-radio fare - from Kristen Hersh's take on Cat Stevens' "Trouble" to the Stereophonics' spin on Roberta Flack's soulful "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." More hits of the 1970s include Griffin House's version of Jackson Browne's "These Days," Jars of Clay pouring out their love for America's "Lonely People," and Jason Mraz tackling Seals & Croft's "Summer Breeze." Two more Cat Stevens songs made the album, with Sixpence None the Richer vocalist Leigh Nash covering "Father & Son," and Travis offering "Don't Be Shy."

• In two weeks Warner Bros. Records and Fox television are releasing two more soundtrack volumes for their popular series The O.C. A few cool covers show up on Music from the O.C.: Mix 2, with Jem's take on Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" and Nada Surf's update on Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark's 1986 hit "If You Leave." Taking a seasonal twist, The O.C. Mix 3: Have a Very Merry Chrismukkah riffs on the Cohen family's dual religious membership and will feature holiday songs from Low, Ron Sexsmith, and more.

• Cover-itus continues this Tuesday as Fat Wreck Chords issues Play Jonny's Bar Mitzvah from Me First & The Gimme Gimmes. Decked out in bitchin' powder-blue tuxedos, this is the recording from their real-life paid bar mitzvah gig, packed with punked-out crowd pleasers such as "Stairway to Heaven," "Strawberry Fields Forever," and "Delta Dawn." Watch the polyester, but get ready to hold your lighters high for the band's take on REO Speedwagon's "Take It on the Run."

• Looking for something a little heavier? Check out next week's release of Graveyard Classics 2 by Six Feet Under on the Metal Blade imprint. Playing a mixed bag of metal classics in volume one, this time the band is covering AC/DC's entire Back in Black album from 1980.
