· One of the strangest pairings in music comes this Tuesday when Geffen Records releases the soundtrack to House of 1,000 Corpses, the new Rob Zombie-directed horror film. Among odd tracks from the Ramones, Buck Owens, and Slim Whitman are six new sick tracks by Zombie, one of which is his "Brick House 2003," a twisted re-make featuring original Commodore Lionel Richie.

· In a new twist on the concept of a "paper jam," the audio anarchists at Seeland Records have just released Xerophonics, a CD constructed completely of sound samples of copy machines as they hum, staple, and collate. Seeland is the label home to Negativland, and this new ambient sway is another smart lob at the legal arguments of sampling, this time copying the sound of copying itself.

· More information about upcoming Led Zeppelin CDs and DVDs is surfacing. It looks like a three-CD live set is due in May, featuring two California concerts from 1972, entitled How the West Was Won and re-mixed and re-mastered by Jimmy Page. A double DVD is also rumored for release about the same time, with classic footage of the band's often-bootlegged Royal Albert Hall, Earl's Court, and Knebworth performances from 1970, 1975, and 1979, respectively.

· Times are certainly are a-changing: Have you caught Bob Dylan's "Love Sick" in the new Victoria's Secret television commercials? If that isn't strange enough, Dylan is one of the first major artists to create a new way to bypass the record retailer altogether. By logging onto Sony Music's new Custom Mix Web site (http://www.custommixcd.com), buyers can construct their own personal Dylan mix CD with a personal choice of artwork - up to 12 tracks and 78 minutes selected from a healthy list of hits and rarities.
