MOLINE - Beginning Monday, Sept. 25, the intersection of 19th Street and 7th Avenue will be closed through early December to accommodate the future flow of traffic and to improve access to downtown Moline when the I-74 River Bridge is built. The Illinois Department of Transportation and the City of Moline are leading the road projects at and around this intersection.

Road Closures:
  • The intersection of 19th Street and 7th Avenue will be closed.
  • 19th Street from 12th Avenue to 7th Avenue will continue to be closed.
Downtown Moline Access
  • Illinois-bound I-74 motorists can take the River Drive exit to access downtown Moline. The 7th Avenue exit will remain open; however, motorists will not be able to go west on 7th Avenue.
  • Iowa-bound I-74 motorists can take the River Drive exit or the 7th Avenue exit to access downtown Moline, but will not be able to go west on 7th Avenue.

Additional road construction is taking place throughout downtown Moline, including lane closures on 5th Avenue and River Drive.

Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution and obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area.

WE MAY BE CHANGING YOUR ROUTE, BUT NOT YOUR DESTINATION.
Access to Moline’s downtown, businesses and all special events will be open through construction.

The I-74 Mississippi River Bridge project is part of a regional strategy for improving access across the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities. Construction is anticipated to take place over 3 ½ years.
