ELDRIDGE, IOWA (November 4, 2019) — Who says racquetball is on the decline?
A record 72 racquetball players from eight states will participate in this weekend's Marigold Resources Quad City Open racquetball tournament in Eldridge, Iowa. A full bracket of 16 players will be competing for the 1st-place $1,000 prize in the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Pro division, including two players ranked in the top 50 in the world.
This is the 6th annual event for the Marigold Resources Quad City Open.
In addition to the IRT Pro division, there are a number of singles and doubles amateur divisions as well. There will be 21 Quad City-based players competing. Players must have been pre-registered to participate. While a handful of players live in the area, other players are traveling a long distance, such as professional player Carlos Reyes from Bolivia.
Spectator admission is free and there will be lunch served both Saturday and Sunday for $5. There are over 100 active racquetball players in the Quad Cities area, with local courts at YMCAs and Rock Island Fitness & Activity Center, but the Eldridge Recreation and Fitness Center is the largest racquetball complex in the area, with five panel wall racquetball courts.
Play is expected to run on Saturday 8AM–8PM, and Sunday, 9AM–4PM.
