Opens Saturday, 01/18, at the Figge

DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 13, 2019) — The Rock Island Art Guild, a volunteer-run organization founded in 1955, promotes and fosters the appreciation of the visual arts in the Quad Cities. Beginning Saturday, the Guild’s 41st juried exhibition will be installed in the Figge Art Museum’s fourth-floor gallery.

Sponsored by IHMVCU and the Rock Island Art Guild, the 41st Rock Island Art Guild Fine Arts Exhibition is open to artists within a 150-mile radius of Rock Island working in a variety of mediums, and is juried from online submissions. Candace Moeller, independent curator and associate director of Cristin Tierney Gallery, New York, NY, will act as this year’s juror.

Participating artists for this year’s installation include: Les Allen, Judy Bales, Bradford Bisbey, Wallace Bowling, Linda Buechting, Gloria Burlingame, Maggie Capettini, William Close, Cathie Crawford, Don Crouch, Jim Davis, Amy Dobrian, Frje Echeverria, David Gregory, Barbara Hansen, Ronald Hansen, Ben Harle, Tom Hempel, James Henry, Ralph Henry, Angie Huffman, Louise Kames, ML Kline, Dean Kugler, Gayle Lehmkuhl, Kimberly Machovec-Smith, Makenzie Mackovich, Julie Malake, Ioan Marcu, John Mcglinn, Ed Nellis, Tim Olson, David Otto, Terry Rathje, Gail Ray, Susan Reinier, Elizabeth Rhoads Read, Lori Roderick, Spencer Sauter, Dave Schaeffer, Kevin Schafer, Alex Schmiechen, Katie Schutte, Rowen Schuusheim-Anderson, Smauel Seigel, John Sheppard, Steve Sinner, Diane Spielbauer, Mark Szemkus, Jac Tilton, Dale Tulk, Greg Van Dusseldorp, Bella Vine, Kaitlin Walsh, Margaret Whiting, John Whitlock, Michael Wilcox, Hailey Williams, William Wohlford, and Andrew Wroble.

Visitors are encouraged to evaluate the artworks for themselves and help select this year’s “People’s Choice” and “Children’s Choice” awards.

The 41st Rock Island Art Guild Fine Arts Exhibition will be on display through April 19, 2020.

About the Figge Art Museum:

The Figge Art Museum is located on the Mississippi River in downtown Davenport at 225 West Second Street. Hours are 10AM-5PM Tuesday through Saturday, and Sunday, noon-5PM. Thursdays the museum is open until 9PM. Admission to the museum and tour is $10 for adults, $6 for seniors and students with ID, and $4 children ages 4-12. Admission is free to Figge members and institutional members, and always free to all on Thursday evenings, 5-9PM. The Figge Café is open 11AM-2PM, Tuesday-Friday.
