Iowa City, Iowa – The 12th Annual Iowa City Zombie March is lurching where no zombie has lurched before to support local charities. The march, featuring an 80s theme, will take place on Saturday, September 23rd at 5 p.m. at Happy Hollow Park in Iowa City, ending with an after party at The Mill. Assistance with zombie make-up will be available at 3:30 p.m., with the march beginning promptly at 5 p.m.

Proceeds from the Zombie March will go to support Table to Table and The Dystonia Medical Research Foundation of Chicago. The Zombie March has been supporting local charities since 2006, and has grown from a small group to over 1,000 supporters over the past twelve years who share a love for the genre and helping strengthen the community.

This year’s theme is the ‘80s because the organizer, Shawn Beatty, graduated at the end of the 80’s and this is his last Zombie March as the main organizer..  Not to fear, Joshua Christain will be taking over.

Over the past 12 years we have donated thousands of dollars and raised awareness for the following charities as well:

East Central Iowa Autism Society

Humane Society of  Johnson County

Iowa Center for Aids Resources and Education

Iowa City Hospice

National Motorcycle Safety Foundation

National Multiple Sclerosis Society

The National Necrotizing Fasciitis Foundation

Red Cross

Red Shamrock Foundation

Waypoint

Witty Kitties
