PELLA, IOWA (July 1, 2019) — The Red Rock Lake Association, Red Rock Army Corps of Engineers, and Pella and Knoxville community partners are in preparation of the 9th Annual Lake Red Rock Balloon Fest. Thirty-eight hot air balloons, pilots, and their crews will command the event as they soar over the Red Rock Lake area painting the sky with a landscape of color. From their launch sites around the lake, their goal is to float directly over the North Overlook Beach at Red Rock Dam for crowds in the viewing area on the beach. Scheduled activities for the weekend include balloon launches at approximately 6:30PM Friday and Saturday evenings, July 12 and 13 plus morning launches at approximately 6:30AM Saturday and Sunday mornings, July 13 and 14. Additional activities to enjoy: Friday night from 6-10PM, Steve McLain band performs with the Rock Bottom Band performing live, 6-10PM, at North Overlook Beach on Saturday evening, July 13; food vendors on hand both nights; Crafts for the kids and Night Glows after dusk; and a lighted boat-parade Saturday evening. A full schedule can be found on our website and Facebook links as seen below. Saturday, July 13, offers the annual 5K/10K FUNdraiser Cross-Country Run. Sign-ups are available at: www.redrocklakeballoonfest.com. North Overlook Beach also serves as the location for the run and pancake breakfast. Enjoy a free "Let's Go Paddling" experience offered along the shore of the beach plus many other family activities throughout the day.  Join us in celebrating Lake Red Rock and Red Rock Dam 50th Anniversary with a rededication on the beach Saturday evening, July 13, at 5:30.
