AMES, IOWA (October 13, 2022) — Adaptive Sports Iowa (ASI) and the Grizzlies wheelchair basketball team will host the 2022 Grizzlies Invitational presented by GreenState Credit Union, October 15-16 at the GreenState Family Fieldhouse in Coralville.

The inaugural tournament will play host to five varsity teams from around the Midwest, including Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Games will be play on courts 3 and 5 at the GreenState Family Fieldhouse beginning at 8AM, Saturday, October 15, with the tournament wrapping up on Sunday, October 16. Over the course of the two-day tournament, ten total games will be played.

"Our team is very excited to host our first tournament here in Iowa," commented Adaptive Sports Iowa Director, Hannah Bowman. "We hope this will lead to many other wheelchair-basketball tournaments and gain the support of the community. We are welcoming anyone that wants to attend and watch the tournament!"

The tournament is free for spectators, anyone wanting to support the team can do so in the silent auction throughout the event. The tournament will also include a prep exhibition game at 1PM on Saturday, October 15.

Adaptive Sports Iowa is a non-profit organization serving statewide with adaptive-sports programs for Iowans with physical disabilities. For the past eleven years, ASI has served hundreds of athletes from not only Iowa, but from across the country.
